Imaan ki Shaakhen [Branches of Faith]
Pillars of faith and branches of faith
Praise be to Allah.
Faith in the sense of belief is based on six principles, which are mentioned in the hadeeth of Jibreel (peace be upon him), when he questioned the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), who said: “Faith means to believe in Allaah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and the Divine Decree, both good and bad.” (Agreed upon).
Faith which includes good deeds of various kinds is that which has seventy-odd branches. Hence Allaah called prayer eemaan in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
“And Allaah would never make your faith [eemaan] (prayers) to be lost (i.e. your prayers offered towards Jerusalem). Truly, Allaah is full of kindness, the Most Merciful towards mankind” [al-Baqarah 2:143]
The mufassireen said: “your faith (eemaan)” means your prayers towards Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), because the Sahaabah used to pray towards al-Masjid al-Aqsaa before they were commanded to face the Ka’bah in their prayers.

ایمان جو کہ عقیدہ ہے اس کے چھ اصول (ارکان ) ہیں جو کہ حدیث جبرائیل علیہ السلام میں مذکور ہیں جب انہوں نے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ایمان کے متعلق سوال کیا ( یہ کہ تو اللہ تعالی اس کے فرشتوں اور اس کی کتابوں اور رسولوں اور آخرت کے دن اور اچھی اور بری تقدیر پر ایمان لاۓ ) صحیح بخاری اور مسلم
اور ایمان کی انواع اور کن اعمال پر مشتمل ہے تو وہ ستر 70 سے اوپر شاخیں ہیں تو اسی لۓ اللہ تعالی نے اپنے اس فرمان میں نماز کو ایمان قرار دیا ہے :
< اللہ تعالی تمہارے ایمان کو ضائع نہیں کرے گا بیشک اللہ تعالی لوگوں کے ساتھ شفقت اور مہربانی کرنے والا ہے > البقرہ / 143
مفسرین کا کہنا ہے کہ : ایمانکم: یعنی تمہاری وہ نمازیں جو بیت المقدس کی طرف پڑھی گئی ہیں کیونکہ صحابہ کرام تحویل قبلہ سے پہلے مسجد اقصی کی طرف منہ کر کے نماز پڑھتے رہے تھے ۔ .
