 Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad

Sawal: Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ Huzoor ﷺ ki doosri Sahabzaadi theen. aap ki waalida kon theen?

Jawab: Aap ki waalida Tayiba Tahira Umm-ul-Momineen Hazrat khdijah Al-Kubraa رضى الله عنها theen.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool-ul- ﷺ ka waalid ki taraf se nasab bta dijiye?

Jawab: Aap waalid ki taraf se aa’la nasab theen.  Jo keh is tarhan hai: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ Bin Abdullah bin n Abd-ul-Muttalib bin Hashim.

Sawal: Waalida ki taraf se Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ka nasab kya tha ?

Jawab: Waalida ki taraf se aap ka nasab yeh hai: Sayyidah Ruqayyah Bint-e-khdijah Al-Kubraa رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Khuwaild bin Usd-ul- bin Abdul Uzza bin Qusai.

Sawal: Betaaye Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool-ul- ﷺ kab pedah hoyein?

Jawab: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool-ul- ﷺ Bai’sat-e-Nabwi se saat ( 7 ) saal pehlay Makkah mein peda huien. Us waqt Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ki umar mubaarak tentees ( 33 ) baras thi. Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Hazrat Zainab رضى الله عنها se teen baras choti theen.

Sawal: Sayyidah Hazrat Ruqayyah  رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ ka pehla nikah kis se hua tha?

Jawab: Aap ka pehla nikah U’tba Bin Abu Lahab se hua tha. Jo Huzoor ﷺ ke chacha ka beta tha.

Sawal: Abu Lahab ke betay U’tba se hazrat Ruqayyah Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ ka nikah kis tarhan hua?

Jawab: Abu Al ‘Aas رضى الله عنه bano Abd-ul-‘Uzza bin Abd-e-Shams bin Abd-e-Manaf mein se thay. Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ki badi behan Sayyidah Zainab رضى الله عنها ki shaadi un se ho gayi. Bano Hashim ko khayaal aaya keh Huzoor ﷺ ki doosri baitiyon Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها aur Sayyidah Umm-e-Kulsoom رضى الله عنها ke nikah bhi kahin doosray qabeelon mein nah ho jaayen. Is liye Hazrat Zainab رضى الله عنها ke nikah ke thoda arsa baad Bani Abd-e-Mutlib ke kuch log, Hazrat Abu Taalib ko sath le kar Huzoor-e-Aqdas ﷺ ki khidmat mein haazir hue. Janaab Abu Taalib ne baat shuru ki: Aey bhateejay! Aap ne Zainab رضى الله عنها  ka nikah Abu Al ‘Aas se kar diya hai. Be shak woh acha damaad aur shareef insaan hai. Magar aap ke Am zaad kehte hain keh jis tarhan aap par Khadija رضى الله عنها ki behan Haala ke betay ka haq hai isi tarhan aap par hamaara bhi haq hai. Aur hasb nasab aur sharaafat mein bhi ham us se kam nahi. Aap ne farmaaya: Aey chacha! Qarabat daari aur rishta daari se to inkaar nahi lekin aap mujhe sochnay ka mauqa den. Aakhir hazrat Khadija al-Kubraa ke mashwaray se aur baitiyon ki raza mandi se yeh nikah ho gaya.

Sawal: Abu Lahab ke betay ‘Utba ne Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ko talaaq kyun day di?

Jawab: Abu Lahab ki biwi Umm-e-Jameel bohat charb zabaan, Badmizaaj, Sangdil aur bad akhlaaq aurat thi. Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ne jab apni nubuwwat ka e’laan farmaya to mushrikeen ne nah sirf aap ki nubuwwat ka inkaar kia balkeh aap aur deegar musalmanon par Zulm-o-Sitam bhi shuru kar diye. Abu Lahab aur us ki biwi Umm-e-Jameel bhi Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ko aeza pohnchaanay mein paish paish thay. Abu Lahab ki muzammat mein jab surah Lahab naazil hui to Abu Lahab ne apne dono beton se kaha: “Jab tak tum Muhammad ﷺ ki dono baitiyon ko talaaq nah do ge mera sr tumahray sr se judda rahay ga”. Chunancha dono ladkon Utbah aur Utaibah ne Rasool-e-Khuda ﷺ ki sahabzaadyon Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها aur Sayyidah Kulsoom رضى الله عنها ko rukhsati se pehlay hi talaaq day di. Agarchay baa’z riwayaat mein hai keh rukhsati ho chuki thi taham mo’tabar riwayaat yehi hain keh rukhsati nahi hui thi kyunk ladkiyan abhi baaligh nah theen.

Sawal: Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ne Abu Lahab ke betay U’tba ke liye kya bad dua farmaai thi?

Jawab: Hazrat qaazi Iyaaz  رحمة اللہ عليه likhte hain keh Huzoor ﷺ ne U’tba bin  Abu Lahab ke liye in alfaaz mein bud-dua farmaai: “Aey Allah to is par apne kutton mein se aik kutta musallat kar day.” Chunancha Huzoor ﷺ ki dua qubool hui.  Usay aik sher ne phaad khaaya tha.  Mohqiqeen wa moar-kheen ka is mein ikhtilaaf hai keh jis ko sher ne halaak kya tha woh U’tbah tha ya Utaibah.

Sawal: Betaaye Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ ka doosra nikah kis se hua tha?

Jawab: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ka doosra nikah hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه Bin Affan se hua tha.

Sawal: Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه Bin Affan kon thay aur un ki Makkay mein kya hesiyat thi?

Jawab: Yeh Khandan-e-Quraish ke aik aali nasab aur ba-hayaa insaan thay. Allah Ta’alaa ne inhen jaahliat mein bhi izzat ataa farmaai. Un ka nasab Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ se jaa milta tha. Aap Khubsoorat-o-Khoob Siarat no jawaan thay aur aap ka shumaar makkay ke ameer tareen logon mein hota tha.

Sawal: Bataaiye Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ka Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه se rishta kis tarhan hua?

Jawab: Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه ne islaam qubool kya. Woh nihaayat saleh nojawaan thay. Huzoor ﷺ ne unhen apni damaadi ke liye muntakhib farmaa lia. Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه ki apni dili khwahish bhi yahi thi.  Chunancha Rasool-e-Akram ﷺ ne Makkah hi mein hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ki shaadi hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه se kar di.

Sawal: Rasool-e-Rahmat ﷺ ki kis beti ne Habsha ki taraf hijrat ki thi?

Jawab: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ woh pehli khatoon hain jinhon ne Allah ki raah mein sab se pehlay Makkay se Habsha hijrat ki.

Sawal: Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ko Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ki hijrat ka ilm hua to aap ne kya farmaaya?

Jawab: An Hazrat ﷺ ne Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ki Hijrat-e-Habsha par farmaaya: “Ibrahim عليه السلام   aur Loot عليه السلام  ke ba’ad Usman رضى الله عنه pehlay shakhs hain. Jinhon ne Khuda ki raah mein apni biwi ke saath hijrat ki.”

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ke hijrat karne ke ba’ad Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ko kya pareshaani laahaq hui?

Jawab: Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه aur Sayyidah Ruqayyah  رضى الله عنها ke Habsha ki taraf hijrat kar jaane ke kayi roz ba’ad tak Sayyidah ki koi ittila nah mili. Huzoor ﷺ be had pareshaan thay aur Makkah se bahar tashreef le jaa kar aanay jaane waalay musafiron se puchte. Aik roz aik aurat ne kaha main ne un ko Habsha mein dekha hai. Us ka jawab sun kar Huzoor-e-Aqdas ﷺ ne farmaya: Allah un ka saathi hai.

Sawal: Hazrat Usman Ghani رضى الله عنه aur Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ Habsha se wapis Makkah kab aur kyun aa gaye?

Jawab: Habsha mein aik arsa tak qiyaam karne ke ba’ad Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه  ko khabar mili keh Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ Madinah ki taraf hijrat karne waalay hain. Chunancha aap aur Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها  baa’z doosray musalmanon ke sath Makkah wapis aa gaye.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ne Madeenay kab hijrat ki ?

Jawab: Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ne musalmanon ko Makkah se Madinah hijrat karne ka hukam diya to aap hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه  ke saath Madeenay hijrat kar gayeen.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ aur Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه Madeenay hijrat kar ke sab se pehlay kisi jagah thehray thay?

Jawab: Bint-e-Rasool ﷺ Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها aur Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه Madeenay mein hazrat Aoas رضى الله عنه Bin Sabit ke ghar thehray. Kuch arsay baad Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ bhi Madinah tashreef le aaye. Hazrat Aoas رضى الله عنه Bin Sabit Hazrat Hassan رضى الله عنه Bin Sabit ke bhai thay.

Sawal: Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ kab bemaar hui theen?

Jawab: 2 hjri mein Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ko cheechak nikal aayi. Yeh daanay niklnay se unhen shadeed takleef thi. Isi zamaane mein Huzoor ﷺ Ghazwah Badar ki tayariyan kar rahay thay.

Sawal: Bataaiye Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ke shohar Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه Ghazwah Badar mein shirkat kyun nahi kar sakay thay?

Jawab: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها shadeed bemaar theen. Sarkaar do A’alam ﷺ Ghazwah-e-Badar ke liye rawaana hue to Hazrat Usmaan Ghani رضى الله عنه ko un ki timardaari ke liye chod diya.

Sawal: Sayyid-ul-Mursaleen ﷺ ne hazrat Usman Ghani رضى الله عنه se kya farmaaya?

Jawab: Aap ne unhen Ghazwah-e-Badar se rok diya aur Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ki timardaari ka hukam diya. Aap ne farmaya: Is ke Iwaz Allah Ta’alaa inhen jihaad mein shareek honay ka ajar bhi de ga aur Maal-e-Ghanimat mein se bhi inhen hissa milay ga.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ ne kab aur kitni umar mein wafaat payi?

Jawab: Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ abhi Badar ke maqaam par hi tashreef rakhtay thay keh Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ne ikees ( 21 ) saal ki umar mein wafaat payi. Ain us waqt jab qabar par matti daali jaa rahi thi Hazrat Zaid رضى الله عنه Bin Harisah Badar se fatah ki khabar le kar Madeenay pohnche.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ ko Jannat Al-Baqee mein dafan kya gaya. Huzoor ﷺ Sayyidah ki qabar par tashreef le gaye to kya farmaya?

Jawab: Aap ﷺ apni Lakht-e-Jigar ki wafaat ki ittila’ pa kar be had ghamgeen hue aur aap ki aankhon se ansoo jaari ho gaye. Madinah wapis tashreef laa kar Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ki qabar par tashreef le gaye aur farmaya: “ Usman رضى الله عنه Bin Mazoo’n jaa chuke. Ab tum bhi un se jaa milo” Muhajreen mein Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه Bin Mazoo’n pehlay sahaabi thay jinhon ne Madinah mein intqaal kya. Ba’az morkheen aur Ahl-e-Siar ke baqol Huzoor ﷺ ne yeh alfaaz kisi aur mauqa par irshad farmaay thay. kyunk Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه Bin Mazoo’n  ne Ghazwah-e-Badar ke ba’ad wafaat paayi thi.

Sawal: Sayyidah Fatima Al-Zahrah رضى الله عنها apni behan hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ki qabar par tashreef layeen to aap ki kya kefiyat thi?

Jawab: Sayyidah Fatima رضى الله عنها apni behan ki qabar par tashreef laayeen aur qabar ke kinaare baith kar ronay lageen. Huzoor-e-Aqdas ﷺ apni chadar mubaarak se un ke ansoo ponchtay jaatay thay.

Sawal: Bataaiye Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ ki aulaad kitni thi?

Jawab: Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها aur Hazrat Usman Ghani رضى الله عنه ke qiyaam Habsha ke doraan aik ladka peda hua tha. Jis ka naam Abdullah rakha gaya. Unhi ke naam se Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه ne apni kuniat Abu Abdullah rakhi thi. Abdullah ke baad koi aulaad nahi hui.

Sawal: Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ke betay abdullah  ﷺ ne kab aur kaisay wafaat paayi?

Jawab: Hazrat Abdullah ﷺ ki umar abhi chay ( 6 ) saal thi keh aik din murgh ne un ki aankh mein chonch maari jis se tamaam chehra mutwarram ho gaya aur usi takleef ki wajah se unhon ne jamadi  al-awal 4 hjri mein wafaat payi. An Hazrat ﷺ ne Namaz-e-Janaazah padhaai aur Hazrat Usman Ghani رضى الله عنه ne qabar mein utaara.

Sawal: Betaaye Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها aur hazrat Usman Ghani رضى الله عنه ki mohabbat kis tarhan zarb al-masal thi?

Jawab: Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها aur Hazrat Usman Ghani رضى الله عنه aapas mein be had mohabbat karte thay. Log un ke misaali ta’lluqaat ke baaray mein kaha karte thay: “Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها aur Usman رضى الله عنه se behtar miyan biwi kisi insaan ne nahi dekha.”

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool ﷺ ki hijrat Habsha ke baaray mein baa’z moar-kheen ki kya raaye hai?

Jawab: Baaz moar-kheen aur Siarat nigaar kehte hain keh Sayyidah Ruqayyah aur hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه ne do martaba Habsha hijrat ki aur phir Makkah aanay ki bajaaye Madinah chalay gaye jabkeh Huzoor ﷺ ne pehlay se wahan tashreef le jaa chuke thay. Taham aksar Ahl-e-Sair ka yahi kehna hai keh aap ne sirf aik martaba Habsha hijrat ki aur phir pehlay Makkah aaye aur Huzoor ﷺ ke hukam se Madinah hijrat kar gaye.

Sawal: Bataaiye Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها  badi theen ya Sayyidah Umm-e-Kulsoom رضى الله عنها?

Jawab: Un dono mein aapas mein kon si badi theen is mein Siarat nigaron ka ikhtilaaf hai. Baaz ne Hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ko badi kaha aur baaz ne Hazrat Umm-e-Kulsoom رضى الله عنها ko.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Muhammad ﷺ ka Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه se nikah Makkay mein hua tha. Bataaiye Huzoor ﷺ ne us nikah ke baare mein kia farmaaya tha?

Jawab: Hazrat Ibn-e-A’bbas رضى الله عنه se riwaayat hai keh Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ne farmaya: Allah Ta’alaa ne meri taraf wahi ki hai keh main apni kareema ka nikah Usman رضى الله عنه Bin A’ffan se kar doon.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها  ka nikah hua to yeh joda bohat mashhoor hua. Is nikah par Hazrat Su’daa رضى الله عنه Bint-e-Kurz Sahaabia ne kya kaha tha?

Jawab: Unhon ne apne asha’ar mein is jode ki tareef ki thi. Jis ka tarjuma hai: “Allah Ta’alaa ne Usman رضى الله عنه ko apne is qoul se ( keh Allah Ta’alaa haq ki hidaayat deta hai ) hidaayat aur rahnumai bakhshi. Aur Huzoor ﷺ ne apni aik beti ka nikah aap se kar diya. Aap aisay chodween ke chaand ki tarhan thay jo ufaq mein Sooraj ko sharmaa raha hai.

Sawal: Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool ﷺ ka huliya kya tha ?

Jawab: Allah ke piyaare mehboob aur haseen-o-jameel Nabi ﷺ ki beti Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها  nihaayat khubaru aur mozoon andaam theen.

Sawal: Betaaye Makkah waalay Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool ﷺ ki shaadi mein kyun nahi shareek hue thay?

Jawab: Hazrat Usman Ghani رضى الله عنه se Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool ﷺ ka nikah hua to Makkah waalay is aham shaadi mein shareek nah hue. Abu Lahab aur us ki biwi Umm-e- Jameel Rasool-ul-Allah ﷺ ke khilaaf thay is liye woh pehlay hi Hazrat Umm-e-Kulsoom رضى الله عنها aur hazrat Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها ko apne beton se talaaq dilwa chuke thay. Islaam qubool karne par Quraish-e-Makkah Hazrat Usman رضى الله عنه ke bhi khilaaf thay. Chunancha unhon ne is ba barkat shaadi mein shirkat nahi ki balkeh un dono miyan biwi par sakhtiyan shuru kar den.

Sawal: Hazrat Umar رضى الله عنه ne Sayyidah Ruqayyah رضى الله عنها Bint-e-Rasool ﷺ ki wafaat par aurton ko ronay se mana’ kya to Rasool-e-Rahmat ﷺ ne kya irshaad farmaya?

Jawab: Hazrat Umar رضى الله عنه ne aurton ko ronay se mana’ kya to Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: “Jo kuch gham aankhon aur dil se jaari hai woh Allah ki taraf se hai aur rahmat hai”. Aik aur riwayat mein hai keh Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: “Ronay mein kuch harj nahi. Lekin noha aur bain shaytaani harkat hai is se bachna chahiye”.

RUQAYYAH BINT RASOOLALLAH ﷺ

 

Ruqayyah was born after her sister Zaynab. She was also a source of happiness for her noble parents. Soon afterwards, Umm Kulthoom was born, and both of them grew together as if they were twins.

Their closeness to one another greatly increased especially since their eldest sister, Zaynab had married and moved to her matrimonial home. They then became ever more closed and more attached to each other. It is as if both of them had been destined for the same fate from the beginning to the end.

The books of Seerah testified to this unique closeness that was between them, for, all historical narrations agreed on the fact that the two noble sisters – Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthoom – shared almost everything in common.

After Zaynab had been married to Abu al-As ibn Rabee’ and Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthoom neared marriage age, Abu Talib, Prophet’s uncle came to him seeking the hands of the two girls in marriage to sons of his brother, ‘Abdul-‘Uzza ibn ‘Abdul-Muttalib, otherwise known as Abu Lahab.

Abu Tlilib said, “We came to ask for the hands of our daughters, Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthoom in marriage. We hope that you will not make their marriage difficult to your cousins, ‘Utbah and ‘Utaybah sons of ‘Abdul-‘Uzza.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ responded, Uncle, can you please give me some time so that I can talk to my daughters?

The Prophet ﷺ proposed the matter to his family, his wife and her daughters, the concerned ones. Even though Khadeejah R.A. was a little reluctant because she knew Umm Jameel – the wife of Abu Lahab and the mother of Utbah & Utaybah – that she was herd hearted and arrogant, she agreed because she did not want to cause divide in the family of her husband.

In Makkah, a light gleamed that illuminated the city and removed its darkness. That was when Muhammad ﷺ was commissioned a Prophet and a Messenger of light and guidance.

When the Verse: Perished be the hands of Abu Lahab.” (Masad: 1) was revealed ,  his (Utbah’s) father said: “My head is lawful to your head if you do not divorce his daughter.” So he parted from her without having consummated the marriage. She became a Muslim with her mother and her sisters.

Abu Lahab and his wife, the wood-carrier, did not stop at bothering of the Muslims and harming them; they also extremely hurt the Prophet ﷺ. In fact, the two young ladies felt a fundamental change in the house. Their house was now surrounded with cruelty from all angles. It had become the main target of persecution, torment and mocking.

These two ladies endured the situation with their parents, doing so as an act of worship for Allah. They bore it with perseverance, in the cause of Allah, pains, hardship and sacrifice. And they were refined by this tribulation.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not grieve because of his daughters that were sent back to him for Allah soon compensated him with a husband who was better than the first two husbands. He compensated him with a righteous, dignified, gracious, highborn, abundantly rich and amiable husband who was very bashful. The person was ‘Uthman ibn ‘Aff’an ibn Abu al-‘As  ibn ‘Abd Shams.

 

The first migration

 

When the Quraysh’s persecution of the Muslims intensified, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted his Companions to migrate to Abyssinia in order to escape with their religion so that they would not be tempted.

Ibn Sa’ d said: She made hijrah with him i.e. with ‘Uthman, to Abyssinia and the two hijrahs together. Allah’s Messenger said: “Both of them were the first to make hirah toward Allah after Lut.

The distant between Makkah and Abyssinia was not short! There are, between the two lands, dry sand, scorching sun, deep sea and deserts and jungles. In addition to its farness, the road was also intractable and full of hardships.

This had made some emigrants fall ill and some of them almost perished, all in the cause of Allah.


‘Uthman and Ruqayyah’s return

 

The emigrants spent days, months and years of their life yearning to go back to their homeland, despite the security, peace and freedom that they enjoyed.

When they heard that Hamzah ibn’ Abdul-Muttalib and ‘Umar had accepted Islam, they were very happy. Some of them hastily returned to Makkah hoping to part take in shaping the future of the war that was raging in Makkah between the truth and falsehood or to see their missed families they had left for a long time.

Other opted to stay until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would permit them to come back home. This latter group was led by Ja’far ibn Abi Talib. ‘Uthman and Ruqayyah were among those who decided to return.

However, the returning refugees were stunned by the increase in the Quraysh’s heartless persecution of the Muslims. So they were greatly disappointed.

The saddest of these returnees was Ruqayyah. For, when she entered her father’s house and kissed her sisters, Umm Kulthoom and Fatimah, she anxiously asked of their great mother. Her sisters remained silent and did not respond to her question. Their tears served as the most vivid answer. Their mother, Khadeejah was dead!!!

‘Uthman and Ruqayyah did not stay long in Makkah. The Muslims migrated to Yathrib after the Ansar – the Aws and Khazraj – had given the Messenger of Allah ﷺ their allegiance that they would support him and help his cause. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself followed them soon afterwards.

Two years before migration to Madeenah, Ruqayyah gave birth to her only child for ‘Uthman, ‘Abdullah.

She had a child from ‘Uthman R.A. named ‘Abdullah and he was nicknamed by that. The child lived up to six years of age but was pecked in the face by a rooster and his face became swollen and he died.

Afterwards, she emigrated to Madinah after ‘Uthman. She took ill just before the battle of Badr. Consequently, the Prophet left ‘Uthman behind to take care of her. She eventually died while the Muslims were still at Badr.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the bereaved father, performed funeral prayers on his daughter and followed her corpse to the Baqee’ until she was buried.

May Allah be pleased with Ruqayyah, the Prophet’s daughter, the lady of two emigrations and the wife of the owner of the lights! May He reward her for her faith, struggle, tribulations, and her perseverance with the best and the fullest reward!
