The Story of Prophet Saleh (AS)
A Prophet to the People of Thamud
Prophet Saleh (AS) was sent to the people of Thamud, a powerful and wealthy tribe who lived in a region known for its beautiful, rocky mountains. The people of Thamud were known for their skill in carving homes out of mountains, but despite their blessings, they had turned away from worshipping Allah and had begun to worship idols.
Prophet Saleh (AS) was chosen by Allah to guide the people back to the right path. He was a kind and wise man, and Allah gave him a clear message to deliver: “Worship Allah alone and leave your idols.”
The Miracle of the She-Camel
Saleh (AS) tried his best to warn the people of Thamud, but most of them refused to listen. To prove his message, Allah gave Prophet Saleh (AS) a miraculous sign. He told the people that a she-camel would come out of a rock, and this would be a clear sign from Allah. The camel was a special, blessed creature that they should respect.
When the she-camel appeared, the people of Thamud were amazed. However, instead of believing, they challenged Saleh (AS) and demanded that the camel be killed. Prophet Saleh (AS) warned them that if they harmed the camel, they would face Allah’s punishment.
Despite Saleh’s (AS) warnings, a group of people from Thamud killed the she-camel. This act of defiance angered Allah, and He sent a terrible punishment upon them.
The Punishment of Thamud
After the camel was killed, Prophet Saleh (AS) warned the people that they had only three more days to repent and seek forgiveness. But they ignored his warning. On the fourth day, Allah sent a mighty earthquake and a loud, terrifying sound that destroyed the people of Thamud. They were all killed, and their once-thriving civilization was wiped away.
Prophet Saleh (AS) and the few people who believed in him were saved from the punishment. He left Thamud with his followers and moved on to continue spreading the message of Allah.
