10. Story of Prophet Ishaq (AS)

Story of Prophet Ishaq (AS)

Prophet Ishaq (AS) was a noble prophet and the son of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Sarah. His story is a beautiful example of Allah’s blessings and the fulfillment of promises.

The Birth of Ishaq (AS)

For many years, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his wife Sarah had no children. They prayed to Allah for a child, and in their old age, Allah sent angels to give them the good news of a baby boy, Ishaq (AS). This news brought great joy to Sarah and Ibrahim (AS).

The Quran mentions this moment:

“They said, ‘Do not be afraid! We bring you good news of a knowledgeable son.’”

(Surah Al-Hijr 15:53)

Ishaq (AS) Grows Up

Ishaq (AS) was blessed with wisdom and righteousness. Like his father Ibrahim (AS), he was chosen by Allah as a prophet to guide people towards the worship of Allah alone. Ishaq (AS) taught his community about Tawheed (the oneness of Allah) and the importance of living a life of goodness and obedience to Allah.

A Family of Prophets

Prophet Ishaq (AS) came from a blessed family. His father, Ibrahim (AS), was a great prophet, and so was his brother, Prophet Ismail (AS). Allah also blessed Ishaq (AS) with a son, Prophet Yaqub (AS), who became a prophet too.

Allah said about Ishaq (AS) in the Quran:

“And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqub in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.”

(Surah Al-Anbiya 21:72)

His Role as a Prophet

Prophet Ishaq (AS) was sent to guide people to the straight path. He reminded them to worship Allah, avoid idol worship, and live justly. Ishaq (AS) was known for his patience, kindness, and dedication to spreading Allah’s message.
