13. The Story of Prophet Ayub (AS)

The Story of Prophet Ayub (AS)

A Man of Patience

Prophet Ayub (AS) was a righteous and pious man who lived in a time when many people had turned away from Allah. He was blessed with wealth, a large family, good health, and a beautiful home. Ayub (AS) was known for his kindness, generosity, and gratitude towards Allah. He was always thankful for Allah’s blessings and helped those in need.

However, despite his great blessings, Prophet Ayub (AS) was tested in a way that no one could imagine.

The Test of Illness and Hardship

One day, Allah decided to test Prophet Ayub (AS) to show the strength of his faith and patience. Allah took away his wealth, his children, and his health. Ayub (AS) lost his beautiful home, his animals, and all his possessions. His children passed away, and then he was struck by a severe illness. His body became covered with painful sores, and he could no longer take care of himself. He was in pain, yet Ayub (AS) remained patient and did not complain.

The Patience of Ayub (AS)

Despite all the suffering and hardships, Prophet Ayub (AS) did not lose hope or faith in Allah. He continued to worship Allah and stayed thankful, even when everything seemed to be lost. His faith was unshaken, and he never questioned Allah’s wisdom.

Even though his friends came to visit him, they urged him to give up his patience and question Allah for allowing him to suffer so much. But Ayub (AS) replied that he would never do such a thing, and that Allah alone knew the reason for his trials.

He prayed to Allah:

“O my Lord, distress has afflicted me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.” (Quran 21:83)

Allah’s Reward for Ayub (AS)

Seeing Ayub’s (AS) incredible patience and unwavering faith, Allah responded to his prayer. Allah commanded Ayub (AS) to strike the ground with his foot. When Ayub (AS) did so, a spring of fresh water gushed forth, and Allah told him to drink and bathe in the water. After drinking and bathing, his body was healed, and the painful sores were gone. Allah restored Ayub’s (AS) health completely.

Not only did Allah restore Ayub’s health, but He also returned all his wealth and gave him even more than he had before. Allah blessed him with new children, and Ayub (AS) became prosperous again.
