AZAB-E-QABR GHAIYEBI UMOOR MEIN SE KYUN?
Sabse pehle yeh jaan lijie keh azab-e-qabr ghaiybi umoor mein se hai aur iske mutalliq ham sirf wohi jantay hain jo Allah Ta’aala ne Qur’an-e-majeed mein ya Rasool Allah(ﷺ) ne apni ahadees mubaraka mein zikr kiya hai, issay ziyada kisi ko kuch maloom nahi- koi shakhs ye suwaal karsakta hai keh Azab-e-qabr akhir kyun ghaiybi umoor mein se hai?
Aur isme kiya hikmat hai keh qabr mein ya a’alam-e-barzaq mein kisi faut shuda ke sath jo kuch beet raha hota hai usay zinda log mehsoos nahi karsakte?
Is suwaal ka jawab yeh hai keh yaqeenan isme Allah Ta’aala ki kayee hikmatien hain jin mein se chand aik yeh hain:
- Allah Ta’aala Ar hamur Rahimeen(ارحم الراحمین) hai aur iski rehmat ka taqaza hai keh ham zinda log faut shudgan ke azab-e-qabr se be khabar hon- Warna agar kisi insaan ko yeh maloom hojaey keh uska baap, ya uska bhai, ya uska beta, ya uski biwi, ya koi aur rishtedaar, ya koi aziz dost azab-e-qabr mein mubtelah hai tou kiya aap andaza karsakte hain keh iski zindagi kis halat mein guzregi? Kiya wo har waqt pareshaan aur ghamgeen nahi rahega?
- Kisi mayyat ke baare mein ye maloom hojana keh usay qabr mein azab diya jaraha hai usme uski zilat o ruswaee hai, kyunkeh uski zindagi mein Allah Ta’aala ne uske gunaahon par parda dalay rakha aur hamain unke baare mein kuch bhi pata na chala- ab uske marne ke ba’ad agar ye maloom hojaey keh usay tou azab diya jaa raha hai tou usme yaqeenan uski ruswaee hogi.
- Qabron mein murdon ko diye jaane waale azaab ke mutalliq zindon ko bay khabar rakhne mein Allah Ta’aala ki aik hikmat yeh bhi hai keh agar zindon ko wo azaab dikhaya ya sunaya jaata tou wo apne murdon ko dafnana chor dete jaisa keh Nabi Kareem(ﷺ) ka irshad hai:
(( لَوْ لَا أَنْ لَّا تَدَافَنُوْا لَدَعَوْتُ اللّٰہَ أَنْ یُّسْمِعَکُمْ مِّنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ))
“Agar is baat ka andesha na hota keh tum murdon ko dafnana chor doge tou main Allah Ta’aala se dua karta keh wo tumhain Azaab-e-qabr mein se thora sa sunaday.”
[Sahih Muslim: 2868]
Goya is andeshay ke paish-e-nazar keh kahin zinda log murdon ko dafnana chor na den azab-e-qabr ko makhfee aur ghaybi umoor mein rakha gaya hai.

The reason why the torment of the grave is hidden from man
Praise be to Allah.
Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
The torment of the grave is one of the matters of the unseen. How many people in these graves are being tormented but we do not realize it, and how many of their neighbours are being blessed with a door opened for them to Paradise, but we do not realize it? What is beneath the graves is known only to the Knower of the Unseen. The torment of the grave is one of the matters of the unseen, and were it not for the revelation that came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), we would not know anything about it. Hence when the Jewish woman entered upon ‘Aa’ishah and told her that the dead are tormented in the grave, she was alarmed, until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came and she told him, and he confirmed that. But Allaah may cause whomsoever He wills of His slaves to see that, as He caused His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to see the two men who were being punished, one for going about spreading malicious gossip, and the other for not taking precautions to protect himself from urine.
The reasons why this is one of the matters of the unseen are as follows:
1 – Allaah is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy, for if we were to see the torment of the grave this would make our lives a misery, because if a person were to know that his father or brother or son or spouse or relative is being punished in the grave and he is not able to save him, then he would be distressed and unable to relax. So this is a blessing from Allaah.
2 – It would be a scandal for the deceased. If Allaah had concealed him and we did not know his sins, which were a matter between him and his Lord, then he died and Allaah showed us his torment, that would be a great scandal for him. So concealing him is a mercy from Allaah towards the deceased.
3 – It might become difficult to bury the dead, as it was narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Were it not that you would not bury one another, I would have asked Allaah to make you hear the torment of the grave.”
[Narrated by Muslim, 2868]
This indicates that burial might become too difficult and people would not do it, even though if a person deserves to be punished he will be punished even if he is lying on the surface of the earth. But people might imagine that the torment only takes place when the person is buried, so they would not bury one another.
4 – If it were visible, belief in it would serve no purpose, because it would be visible and no one could deny it. And this might force all people to believe, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“So when they saw Our punishment, they said: We believe in Allaah Alone”
[Ghaafir 40:84]
So if the people saw those who had been buried and heard their screams, they would believe and none of them would disbelieve, because he would be certain that the torment is real and he would see it with his own eyes as if it were happening to him.
But the wisdom of Allaah is great, and the true believer is the one who believes with certainty what Allaah tells him more than what he sees with his own eyes, because what Allaah tells us cannot be subject to confusion or lies, but what the eyes see may be imaginary. How many people have sworn that they have seen the new crescent moon, when it was in fact a star; how many people have seen the new moon and it turned out to be a white hair on his eyebrow; how many have seen a shadow and said that it was a person coming towards him, but it turned out to be the trunk of a palm tree; how many people have seen a stationery object moving and a moving object standing still. But what Allaah tells us cannot be subject to confusion.
We ask Allaah to make us and you steadfast, for what Allaah tells us about these matters is stronger that what we can see, and concealment is in the best interests of people. And Allaah knows best.

عذابِ قبر غیبی امور میں سے ہے
سب سے پہلے یہ جان لیجئے کہ عذابِ قبر غیبی امور میں سے ہے اور اس کے متعلق ہم صرف وہی جانتے ہیں جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے قرآن مجید میں یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی احادیث مبارکہ میں ذکر کیا ہے،اس سے زیادہ کسی کو کچھ معلوم نہیں۔ کوئی شخص یہ سوال کر سکتا ہے کہ عذابِ قبر آخر کیوں غیبی امور میں سے ہے ؟اور اس میں کیا حکمت ہے کہ قبر میں یا عالمِ برزخ میں کسی فوت شدہ کے ساتھ جو کچھ بیت رہا ہوتا ہے اسے زندہ لوگ محسوس نہیں کر سکتے ؟
اس سوال کا جواب یہ ہے کہ یقینا اس میں اللہ تعالیٰ کی کئی حکمتیں ہیں جن میں سے چند ایک یہ ہیں :
1۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ارحم الراحمین ہے اور اس کی رحمت کا تقاضا ہے کہ ہم زندہ لوگ فوت شدگان کے عذابِ قبر سے بے خبر ہوں ۔ ورنہ اگر کسی انسان کو یہ معلوم ہو جائے کہ اس کا باپ ، یا اس کا بھائی ، یا اس کا بیٹا ، یا اس کی بیوی، یا کوئی اور رشتہ دار ، یا کوئی عزیز دوست عذابِ قبر میں مبتلا ہے توکیا آپ اندازہ کر سکتے ہیں کہ اس کی زندگی کس حالت میں گذرے گی ؟ کیا وہ ہر وقت پریشان اور غمگین نہیں رہے گا ؟
2۔کسی میت کے بارے میں یہ معلوم ہو جانا کہ اسے قبر میں عذاب دیا جا رہا ہے اس میں اس کی ذلت ورسوائی ہے ، کیونکہ اس کی زندگی میں تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس کے گناہوں پرپردہ ڈالے رکھا اور ہمیں ان کے بارے میں کچھ بھی پتہ نہ چلا ۔ اب اس کے مرنے کے بعد اگر یہ معلوم ہو جائے کہ اسے تو عذاب دیا جا رہا ہے تو اس میں یقینا اس کی رسوائی ہو گی۔
3۔قبروں میں مردوں کو دیئے جانے والے عذاب کے متعلق زندوں کو بے خبر رکھنے میں اللہ تعالیٰ کی ایک حکمت یہ بھی ہے کہ اگر زندوں کو وہ عذاب دکھایا یا سنایا جاتا تو شاید وہ اپنے مردوں کو دفنانا چھوڑ دیتے جیسا کہ رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا ارشاد گرامی ہے :
(( لَوْ لَا أَنْ لَّا تَدَافَنُوْا لَدَعَوْتُ اللّٰہَ أَنْ یُّسْمِعَکُمْ مِّنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ))
’’ اگر اس بات کا اندیشہ نہ ہوتا کہ تم مردوں کو دفنانا چھوڑ دوگے تو میں اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کرتا کہ وہ تمھیں عذابِ قبر میں سے تھوڑا سا سنادے ۔ ‘‘

گویا اس اندیشے کے پیشِ نظر کہ کہیں زندہ لوگ مردوں کو دفنانا چھوڑ نہ دیں عذابِ قبر کو مخفی اور غیبی امور میں رکھا گیا ہے ۔ واللہ اعلم
