Hazrat Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ)
Hazrat Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) was a great personality, brave, and also was the one who defended the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the Battle of Uhud.
Name and Lineage :
Talha bin Ubaidullah bin Usman bin Amr bin Kaab bin Saad bin Taeem bin Murra bin Kaab.
Parents of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) :
His father’s name was Ubaidullah bin Usman and his mother’s name was So’ba bin Abdullah.
Kunniyat of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) :
His kunniyat was Abu Muhammad.
Title of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) :
Since he used spend for the sake of Allah, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave him the title Fayyaz (The Generous).
Birth of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ):
He was born 28 years before Hijrat (594 AD) in Makka.
Wives of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) :
He had 8 wives out of which 4 were sisters of wives of the Messenger of Allah.
- Hamna bint Jahash, sister of Hz Zainab bint Jahash (رضي الله عنها).
- Umm Kulsum bint Abu Bakr, sister of Hz Ayesha (رضي الله عنها).
- Fariya bint Abu Sufiyan, sister of Umm Habeeba (رضي الله عنها).
- Ruqaiyya bint Abu Umaiyya, sister of Umm Salma (رضي الله عنها).
- Umm Abaan.
- Umm Haaris.
Children of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ):
He had 11 sons and 4 daughters. He named his son as the name of the prophets.

Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) in Islam:
He was among those who accepted Islam in early days. After entering Islam, he faced many difficulties but didn’t leave to invite people to Islam and lived with patience.
Death of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah:
In 36 hijri (656 AD), he died in the battle of Jamal at the age of 64 in Basra .
Merits and Characteristics of Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ):
- Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) was among the Ashra Mubashshira i.e. he was among the 10 people who were given glad tidings of Paradise in the world.

Narrated ‘Abdur-Rahman bin ‘Awf:that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
Abu Bakr is in Paradise, ‘Umar is in Paradise, ‘Uthman is in Paradise, ‘Ali is in Paradise, Talhah is in Paradise, Az-Zubair is in Paradise, ‘Abdur-Rahman bin ‘Awf is in Paradise, Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas is in Paradise, and Abu ‘Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah is in Paradise.
- Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) was among those 6 people whom Hz Umar bin Khattab chose for the Caliphate before his death.
- The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave him the glad tidings of Paradise in the battle of Uhud.
Sunan Tirmizi: 1692
Narrated Az-Zubair bin Al-‘Awwam:
“On the Day of Uhud, the Prophet (ﷺ) wore two coats of mail. He tried to get up on a boulder but was not able to, so Talhah squatted under him, lifting the Prophet (ﷺ) upon it such that he could sit on the boulder. So he said: (Paradise) “It is obligated from Talhah.’”
- Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) got the status of martyr when he was alive.
Sunan Tirmizi : 3739
Narrated Jabir bin ‘Abdullah:that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoever would be pleased to look at a martyr walking upon the face of the earth, then let him look at Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah.
- Hz Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) was a very liberal and generous person.

Talha bin Ubaidullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) said : “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me two titles, Talhatul Khair and Talhatul Fayyaz.”
