02. The Story of Prophet Idris (AS)

The Story of Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام)

Once upon a time, in a beautiful city called Minfees, lived a great man named Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام). People called him “Harmas-ul-Haramisah”, which meant he was a wise and strong man who always had good advice for others. Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was very special because he was the first person ever to write with a pen!

When Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was born, Prophet Adam (علیہ السلام), the first human, was still alive. He lived for many years, and by the time Prophet Adam (علیہ السلام) passed away, Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was 308 years old!

Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was so important that he was one of the first people chosen by Allah to become a prophet after Prophet Adam (علیہ السلام). Allah sent him to guide the people and teach them how to live good lives.

In the Quran, Allah mentions Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) in two places. Allah says in Surah Al-Anbiya (21:85-86):

“And mention Ismail, Idris, and Dhul-Kifl; all were patient. And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.”

This means that Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was a very patient and good man. Allah was pleased with him and his hard work in spreading goodness.

Another time, Allah says in Surah Maryam (19:56-57):

“And mention in the Book Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. And We raised him to a high position.”

This means that Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was very truthful, and Allah raised him to a special place.

A Special Meeting in the Sky

One day, something amazing happened. During the Mi’raj (the special journey of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to the heavens), Prophet Muhammad ﷺ met Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) in the sky! When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed by him, Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) welcomed him by saying, “Welcome, good brother and good prophet.”

You see, Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) loved and respected Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and he recognized how special Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was, just like the other great prophets did. In fact, Prophet Adam (علیہ السلام) and Prophet Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) also welcomed Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with great love, saying “Welcome, good prophet and good son.”

The Time When Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) Was Taken to the Sky

One day, Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) wanted to do even more good deeds to help people, so he asked the Angel of Death to give him more time to do good things. The angel agreed, and suddenly, Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was taken to the fourth sky, where he met the Angel of Death.

The Angel of Death was surprised to see him in the sky because he had been sent to take his soul, but he thought Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was still on earth! The Angel of Death took his soul in the fourth heaven, and this was the moment when Allah raised Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) to a very high position.

The First Person to Write with a Pen

Besides being a prophet, Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) was also known for his great knowledge. He was the first person ever to use a pen to write! This made him even more special, as he taught people how to record things and share knowledge with others.

  ✦ Moral of the Story

The story of Prophet Idrees (علیہ السلام) teaches us many important lessons:
