17. FAKHR-O-TAKABBUR AUR KHUD PASANDI [Pride]

 Takabbur

Takabbur, fakhar, ghuroor aur akar kabeera gunah hai, Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

“Woh takabbur karne walon ko yaqeenan pasand nahin karta”

(An-Nahl 16: 23)

Aur RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

Wo martabah ek aadmi itraa kar chal raha tha keh Allah ne achanak use zameen mein dhansa dia, ab woh Qayamat tak us mein dhansta chala jaraha hai” [Bukhari: 5789; Muslim: 2088]

“Aur (yaad karo) jab ham ne farishton ko hukum dia keh Adam ko sajdah karo tou iblees kay Siwa sab ne sajdah kia, us ne na Mana, takabbur kia aur woh kaafiron mein se tha”

(Al-Baqara 2 : 34)

” Jis shakhs kay Dil mein zarra barabar takabbur hoga, woh jannat mein nahin jaega”                                                               [ Muslim: 91; Muslim: 2620]

Aur Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

“Yaqeenan Allah har itrane wale aur shaikhi wale ko pasand nahin karta”

(Luqman 31: 18)

Aur RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

Allah ta’ala farmata hai: “Azmat Meri izaar aur kibriyai Meri Chadar hai, pas jis shakhs ne unhen mujh se khenchne ki koshish ki tou main use Jahannum mein dalunga” [Bukhari: 4850; Muslim: 2846]

Aur RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Jannat aur Jahannum mein jhagra hua tou jannat ne kaha: mere lie kia hai mujh mein tou za’eef aur ghair ehem log hi dakhil honge, Jahannum ne kaha: mere andar tou jabir aur mutakabbir qisam kay log aenge”

Aur Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

“Aur logon se be-rukhi na kar, aur zameen mein itraa kar na chal, Allah kisi itrane wale aur shaikhi wale ko pasand nahin karta”

(Luqman 31 : 18)

Salma bin akwa’ bayan karte hain:

Us ne kaha: “main istita’at nahin rakhta, tou aap ne farmaya: “tu istita’at nahin rakhta, isko sirf takabbur ne roka hai” pas woh ba’ad mein kabhi apne us hath ko apne munh tak nahin utha saka [Muslim: 2021]

Farmaya: har akhar mizaj, itraa kar chalne wala aur mutakabbir” [Bukhari: 4918; Muslim: 2853]

Ibne Umar رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain, main ne RasullAllah ﷺ ko farmate hue suna:

“Jo shakhs itraa kar chalta hai aur apne aap ko bara samajhta hai tou woh Allah se mulaqat karega tou woh us par naraz hoga ” [Bukhari fil adabul mufrad: 549]

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه ki Hadith se jo Sahih sabit hai keh pehle 3 shakhs Jo Jahannum mein jaenge :

“Zalim badshah, zakat adaa na karne Wala maal daar aur mutakabbir faqeer ” [Ahmad: 425/2 Riwayat za’eef hai]

RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

“3 qisam kay log hain, Allah Jin ki taraf Roz-e-Qayamat (nazre rehmat se) nahin dekhega, unhen Paak nahin karega aur un kay lie dardnak azaab hoga: izaar latkane wala, ehsan jaltlane wala aur jhooti qasam se apna sauda bechne wala “

“Musabbal” us shakhs ko kehte hain jo apna izaar ya apna kapra ya apni shalwar takhnon se neeche latkata hai hatta keh woh us kay paun par ajata hai

Aap ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Jo izaar takhnon se neeche ho tou woh aag mein hai” [Bukhari]

Sab se bara takabbur Jo kisi mein ho sakta hai , woh shakhs hai Jo apne ilm ki badolat bandon par takabbur karta hai , aur apni fazeelat ki wajah se apne aap ko bara samajhta hai, pas yeh ilm us kay lie nafa’ mand nahin, kyun keh jo shakhs akhirat kay lie ilm hasil karta hai, uska ilm us mein kasre nafsi paida karta hai, us kay Dil mein khashiyat paida hoti hai, aur nafs (jee) mein aajizi paida karta hai aur woh apne nafs ki nigrani karta hai, woh us se susti nahin karta balkeh woh har waqt us ka muhasibah karta hai, agar woh us se ghafil ho jae tou woh sirate mustaqeem se Nikal jae aur use halaak kar dale aur jo shakhs fakhar wa ghalbe aur musalmanon par takabbur karne, unhen bewaqoof banane aur unko pareshan karne kay lie ho tou yeh sab se bara takabbur hai aur jis shakhs kay Dil mein zarra barabar takabbur hoga woh jannat mein dakhil nahin hoga.

17. Arrogance, Pride, Conceit, Vanity And Haughtiness

Allah, Most High, says,

{Moses said, “I have indeed called upon my Lord and your Lord (for protection) from every arrogant one who believes not in the Day of Account.}

(Ghafir: 27)

{Verily He loveth not the arrogant.}

(An-Nahl: 23)

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

“Once a man was walking along in a new set of clothes, with a swagger to his step, pleased with himself, Allah caused the earth to swallow him and he will keep sinking until the Last Day.”¹ [AI-Bukhari]

“Tyrants and the arrogant will be raised on the last Day as grain strewn under feet that the people will walk upon.”² [ At- Tirmidhi and Ahmad]

Arrogance, as early Muslims said, was the first fault against Allah.

Allah, the Almighty, says,

{And behold, we said to the angels: bow down to Adam: and they bowed down: not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: he was of those who reject Faith}

(AI-Baqarah: 34)

Therefore, Faith is of no avail if arrogance exists, as is Iblis.

The Messenger (pbuh) said, “Arrogance is belittling to admit the truth and considering people inferior.”³ [Muslim]

“Arrogance is refusing to acknowledge what is right and considering others to be inferior.”⁴ [AI-Hakim]

“No one with the slightest particle of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.”⁵ [ AI-Bukhari]

Allah, the Almighty, says in the Qudsi hadith,

{Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.}

(Luqman: 18)

Allah, the Almighty, says,

“Pride is My garment and haughtiness My Mantle: whoever vies with Me for them I will throw into Hell.”⁶ [Muslim]

The Messenger (pbuh) said,

“A debate took place between heaven and hell. The latter said; in me shall enter tyrant and the arrogant people: while heaven said, “In me shall enter the weak and the lowly.” Allah decided the issue by saying, You are heaven, My mercy, through you I shall have mercy on whomsoever i please; and you are hell, a place of punishment, through you I shall chastise whomsoever i like. it is incumbent upon Me to fill both of you!”¹ [AI-Bukhari]

Allah, the Almighty, says,

{And swell not thy check (jor pride) at men. Nor walk in insolence through the earth for Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.}

(Luqman: 18)

Salama Ibn Al-Akwa’ recounted that a man was eating with his left hand in the presence of the Prophet (pbuh). The Prophet told him, “Eat with your right. ” To which the man replied, “I cannot.” Though nothing stopped him but arrogance.

The Prophet said,’ “May you not be able to. ” And the man could never lift his right hand to his mouth again.”² [Ahmad and AI-Hakim and it is an authentic hadith]

“Shall I tell you who the people of the Hell-Fire are. The cruel, the haughty and the arrogant.”

“There are three people whom Allah will not speak to, look at or exonerate on the Day of Judgement, and who will have a painful torment: he who wears the hem of his garment low (out of pride), he who reminds recipients of his charity to them and he who sells merchandise swearing that he paid more for it than he actually did.”⁴ [Muslim, An-Nisa’i and Ibn Majah]

“What comes down the anklebones of the caftan is in Hell.”⁵ [AI-Bukhari]

The wickedest arrogance is that of someone who exalts himself over people of his learning and gloats to himself about his superiority. The knowledge of such person is of absolutely no benefit to him. Whoever learns sacred knowledge for the sake of the next world is unsettled by his learning, his heart is humbled and his ego lowered. Such a person lies in wait for his selfishness and never gives it free rein. He constantly takes his ego to task and corrects it. Were he to neglect it, it would diverge from the right path and destroy him. The person who seeks knowledge to take pride in it or gain a position of leadership, looking disdainfully at other Muslims, thinking them fools and making light to them all this is the most enormous arrogance and no one with the slightest particle of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise. There is no power nor might save in Allah Most High, Most Glorious.
