38. DUNIYA KAY LIYE ILM HASIL KARNA AUR ILM CHUPAANA [Teaching for the sake of this world and concealing knowledge]
DUNIA KAY LIE ILM HASIL KARNA AUR ILM CHUPANA:
Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:
“Bat sirf yeh hai keh Allah kay bandon mein se ulama hi usse darte hain”
Fatir 35 : 28
Ya’ani Allah عزوجل ka ilm aur ma’arifat rakhne wale
Murad yeh hai keh meri makhlooq mein se mujh se woh darta hai jo mere jabaroot (qudrat, taqat) ghalbe aur meri hukumrani ko janta hai
Mujahid aur Sho’bi رحمهما الله ne farmaya:
Aalim woh hai jo Allah se darta hai
Rubai’ bin Anas ne farmaya:
Jo shakhs Allah se nahin darta woh aalim nahin
Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:
“Beshak woh log jo Allah kay khule ehkam aur uski hidayat ko is kay ba’ad bhi chupa rahe hain jab keh ham ne logon kay lie kitab mein har hukum wazaht kay sath bayan kardia hai, un par Allah aur tamam la’anat karne wale la’anat karte hain.
Al-Baqarah 2 : 159
Yeh ayat ulamae yahood kay baare mein nazil hui aur البينات se rajam, hudood aur ehkam murad hain aur الهدى se Muhammad ﷺ ka amar aur apki sifat murad hai من بعد ما بيناه للناس ya’ani woh log jo chupate hain
Ibne Mas’ood رضي الله عنهما ne farmaya: do musalman aapas mein la’anat karte hain tou woh la’anat un yahoodo nasara par laut’ti hai jo Muhammad ﷺ kay amar aur unki sifat ko chupate hain.
Aur Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:
“Aur (yad karo) jab Allah ne un logon se jo ehle kitab hain yeh ehed lia tha keh tum (is kitab ki ta’leemat) ko logon par wazeh karna aur chupana nahin, tou unhon ne is ehed ko pase pusht daal dia aur Allah ki kitab ko thori si qeemat par baich dala, so unhon ne bura sauda kia”
Aale Imran 3 : 187
Wahidi ne bayan kia: yeh ayat yahoode madinah kay baare mein nazil hui, Allah ne unse taurat mein ehed lia keh woh Muhammad ﷺ ki hesiat, apki sifat aur apki ba’sat kay muta’alliq bayan karen aur use chupaen nahin, aur Allah ta’ala ka yeh farman: لتبينه للناس ولا يكتمونه
Hasan Basri ne farmaya: yeh Allah ne ulamae yahood se ehed lia tha keh unki kitab mein jo kuch hai woh use wazeh karen aur us mein RasullAllah ﷺ ka zikar hai, aur ap kay farman
Ibne Abbas رضي الله عنهما ne farmaya: ya’ani unhon ne is meesaq ko apni pusht peeche phenk dia, واشتروا به ثمنا قليلا
Ibne Abbas رضي الله عنهما ne farmaya: bura hai unka bechna aur unhon ne nuqsan uthaya
Hazrat Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه ki hadith jis mein un 3 logon ka zikar hai jinko ghaseet kar Jahannum mein dhakel dia jaega, guzri hai. Un mein se aik woh hai jise kaha jaega tum ne tou islie ilm hasil kia tha keh tumhen aalim kaha jae aur woh keh dia gaya aur aap ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Jis shakhs ne ilm hasil kia taakeh us kay zarie ulama par fakhar kare ya us kay zarie se nadanon se behso mubahisa kare ya logon kay dilon ko apni taraf mutawajja kare tou (Uski yeh koshish ) Jahannum ki taraf hai aur aik riwayat mein yeh alfaz hain: “Allah use Jahannum mein dakhil karega” [Tirmidhi: 2654]
Aur Aap ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Jis shakhs se ilm kay muta’alliq pucha gaya aur us ne use chupaya tou use Roz-e-Qayamat aag ki lagam daali jaegi” [Abu Dawood: 3658]
Aur RasullAllah ﷺ ki Dua hoti thi:
“Main aise ilm se teri panah chahta hun jo nafa’mand na ho” [Muslim: 2722]
Aur aap ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Jis shakhs ne ilm hasil kia lekin us kay mutabiq amal na kia tou aisa ilm mehez us kay takabbur mein izafa karta hai “ [Tirmidhi]
Hazrat Abu Umama رضي الله عنه ne farmaya , RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Aalime soo’ ko Roz-e-Qayamat laya jaega tou use aag mein phenk dia jaega woh apni antarion kay sath aise ghoomega jese gadha chakki kay gird chakkar lagata hai, use kaha jaega tum isse kyun do chaar hue jab keh ham ne tou tumhari wajah se hidayat hasil ki thi tou woh kahega jis cheez se tumhen mana’ kia karta tha khud uska irtikab kia karta tha” [Bukhari: 3267; Muslim: 2689]
Ibne Alaa ne farmaya: ilm hasil karna mushkil hai, use yaad karna use hasil karne se ziada mushkil hai us par amal karna use yad karne se ziada mushkil hai aur usse salamti pana us par amal karne se bhi ziada mushkil hai, pas ham Allah se har qisam ki azmaish se salamti aur us kay pasandeedah umoor ki taufeeq chahte hain kyun keh woh sakhi daata fayyaz hai
NASEEHAT:
Ibne Adam ! Tum in mehellat se kab kooch karoge? Tu ne jo kuch ta’meer kia hai un mein kab tak ghoomta phirta rahega? Tum se pehle jo in manzilon aur gharon mein the woh kahan hain? Woh jis ne apni tadbeere soo’ se yeh yaqeen karlia tha keh woh wapas nahin paltega , kahan hai? Allah ki qasam! Un sab ne kooch kia aur qabron mein ja jama’ hue, unhon ne soor phoonke jane tak sakhto khurdure bichonon ko apna watan bana lia, jab woh faisla sunne kay lie uthenge tou aasman thartharaega
Hijabe makhfi khol die jaenge aur parde chaak kar die jaenge, af’aale ajaaib zahir honge aur jo kuch seenon mein hai zahir kar dia jaega, pul sirat ko nasab kar dia jaega aur kitne hi qadam thokar khaenge, wahan aankre lagae jaenge jo maghroor logon ko uchak lenge , muttaqi logon kay chehre chodhwin raat kay chand ki tarah chamakte honge aur woh us tijarat kay mustahiq thehre jis mein khasara nahin, jab keh faajir qisam kia log tabahio barbadi ki awaz lagaenge Jahannum ko lagamon kay sath laya jaega aur woh josh marti hogi jab unhen us mein daal dia jaega tou woh uski awaz sunenge aur woh josh marti hogi, dunia mein us shakhs kay lie koi suroor nahin jo Qayamat par iman rakhta hai dunia se sirf kafir ya jahil hi khush hota hai
“Dunia sirf mata’ hai, us mein jo kuch hai woh dhoke ka saman hai, us din ki holnaki yad karo jab aasman thartharaega”

Learning Sacred Knowledge for the Sake of This World, or Concealing It
Allah Most High says, {Those truly fear Allah among His servants who have knowledge, for Allah, is Exalted in Might, oft-Forgiving.}
(Fatir: 28)
This verse clearly refers to the scholars who are acquainted with Allah, Most High. Ibn `Abbas said,”What is meant, are those who are well acquainted with Allah’s Might, Dignity and Power and (will) fear Him more than all other people.” Mujahid and AI-Sha’bi said, “The men of knowledge are those who fear Allah.”
AI-Rabi’ said further, “Whoever has no fear of Allah, he will never be decreed to be a scholar.”
Allah Most High also said, {Those who conceal the clear signs we have sent down, and the Guidance, after we have made it clear for the people in the Book, on them shall be Allah’s curse and the curse of those entitled to curse.}
(AI-Baqarah: 159)
This verse was revealed as a condemnation to the Jewish scholars. The clear signs refer to the Divine prescriptions, rules and penalties.
{The Guidance} means the prophecies of Muhammad (pbuh) and his features in their book. {After we have made it clear for the people} refers to the children of Israel. {The Book} refers to the Torah. {On them} means those who conceal the truth. {And the curse of those who are entitled to curse} refers to all of creation except jinn and mankind as Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) stated. Ibn Mas’ud said,
“When two Muslims indulge in cursing, their curse would return to the Jews and the Christians who conceal the prophecies of and features of Muhammad (pbuh) in their books.”
Moreover, Allah Most High states, {And remember Allah took a covenant from the people of the Book, to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it, but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And vile was the bargain they made.}
(Al-Imran: 186)
Al-Wahdi stated, “These verses were revealed concerning the Jews of Medina whom Allah commanded to publicize the prophecies, features and the mission of Muhammad (pbuh) as stated in their Book, the torah.
{To make it known and clear to mankind,} refers to Allah’s Covenant with the Jewish scholars to make clear to the people what was in their book, including the prophecies of Muhammad (pbuh) as AI-Hasan stated {But they threw it away behind their backs} Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, “They broke their commitment” “And purchased with it some miserable gain!” They preferred valueless and mean interests over explaining the truth. {And vile was the bargain they made.} Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) commented, “They made a miserable trade and gained nothing except loss and damnation.”
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) declared, “Will never smell the fragrance of Paradise, the one who seeks sacred knowledge for the sake of worldly gain.” ¹
The hadith reported by Abu Hurairh (may Allah be pleased with him),that was previously mentioned, explained that one of the three men who would be dragged to Hell-fire is the person who sought knowledge in order that people would call him a scholar.
Furthermore, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,
“Anyone who seeks sacred knowledge to vie with scholars, argue with fools, or win people’s hearts will go to Hell.”²
He (pbuh) also said,”Whoever is asked about an issue of knowledge, and conceals it, on the Day of Judgment he would be held by a rein of fire.”³
By the same token, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) used to supplicate to Allah saying, “0 Allah! I seek refuge in you from knowledge which is of no use.”⁴
He (pbuh) also said,”Whoever seeks knowledge other than for the sake of Allah, let him await his abode in Hell-fire.”⁵
Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) commented, “The more the scholar does not behave according to his knowledge, the more arrogant this scholar will be.”
On the authority of Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,”On the Day of Judgment, the immoral scholar will be thrown into Hell where he would be rounded with a reed like a donkey which round with quern. People would wonder saying, “You are so and so, the scholar who guided us to the straight way!” He would reply, “I used to contradict what I taught you.” ⁶
Hilal Ibn Al ‘Ala’ said, “Seeking sacred knowledge is arduous, learning it is harder than seeking it, applying it is harder than learning it, and remaining safe from it is even harder than applying it.”
