05. ZAKAT ADA NA KARNA [Refusing to pay Zakat]

ZAKAT ADAA NA KARNA:

Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

وَ لَا یَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِیْنَ یَبْخَلُوْنَ بِمَاۤ اٰتٰىهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ هُوَ خَیْرًا لَّهُمْؕ-بَلْ هُوَ شَرٌّ لَّهُمْؕ-سَیُطَوَّقُوْنَ مَا بَخِلُوْا بِهٖ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَةِؕ

 

Aur woh log jo is cheez kay kharch karne mein bukhul karte hain, Jo Allah ne apni inayat se unhen de rakhi hai, ye khayal na karen keh woh un kay lie behtar hai balkeh woh un kay lie bohot buri cheez hai, jis mein woh bukhul kar rahe hain, yaqeenan Qayamat kay din unhen usi kay tauq daale jaenge”

(Aal-e-Imran 3:180)

 

Aur Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

 

وَوَيْلٌ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ * الَّذِينَ لا يُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ

 

Mushrikeen kay lie wail (kharabi, tabahi) hai jo zakat adaa nahin karte”

(Fussilat 41: 6-7)

 

Allah ta’ala ne zakat adaa na karne walon ko mushrikeen se mosoom kia hai, neez farmaya:

 

وَالَّذِيۡنَ يَكۡنِزُوۡنَ الذَّهَبَ وَالۡفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنۡفِقُوۡنَهَا فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِۙ فَبَشِّرۡهُمۡ بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيۡمٍۙ‏ ۞ يَّومَ يُحۡمٰى عَلَيۡهَا فِىۡ نَارِ جَهَـنَّمَ فَتُكۡوٰى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمۡ وَجُنُوۡبُهُمۡ وَظُهُوۡرُهُمۡؕ هٰذَا مَا كَنَزۡتُمۡ لِاَنۡفُسِكُمۡ فَذُوۡقُوۡا مَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَكۡنِزُوۡنَ‏ ۞

 

“Aur woh log jo Sona chandi jama kar kay rakhte hain, aur usko Allah ki raah mein kharch nahin karte, unko dardnak azaab ki khush khabri suna dijie, jis roz un (khazanon) ko Jahannum ki aag mein rakh kar garam kia jaega, phir unki paishanian , karwaten aur pushten unse daagh di jaengi aur kaha jaega keh yeh hai woh jo kuch tum ne apne lie jama kar rakha tha, pas jo kuch tum Jana kia karte the uska maza chakho”

(At tawbah 9: 34-35)

 

RasullAllah ﷺ se sabit hai keh aap ne farmaya:

 

“Sone chandi ka Malik Jo us mein se uska Haq (zakat) adaa nahin karta tou jab Qayamat ka din hoga us kay lie aag ki takhtian, platen banai jaengi, unhen Jahannum ki aag se tapaya jaega phir unse uski paishani, us kay pehlu aur uski pusht ko daagh dia jaega, jab woh Thandi hone lagengi tou unhen dobara garam kia jaega aur yeh Amal us din, jis ki miqdar 50 hazar saal kay barabar hogi, jaari rahega hatta keh Allah logon kay mabain faisla farma dega, phir woh apni raah dekhega, jannat ki taraf ya phir Jahannum ki taraf” [Bukhari wa Muslim]

 

Arz kia gaya: Allah kay Rasul! To oonton ka Kia hukum hai? Ap ne farmaya:

 

“Isi tarah oonton ka Malik Jo unka Haq adaa nahin karta tou jab Qayamat ka din hoga tou use ek saaf maidan mein munh kay bal litaya jaega aur us kay oont bohot ziada honge aur woh kisi ek bache ko bhi Kam nahin paaega, woh apne khuron se use rondhenge aur apne munhon se use nochenge , jab un mein se pehla guzar jaega tou us kay akhir ko phir lauta dia jaega aur yeh Amal us din jari rahega jis ki miqdar 50 hazar saal hogi, hatta keh logon kay darmian Allah faisla farma dega phir woh shakhs apni raah dekhega jannat ki taraf ya Jahannum ki taraf “

Arz kia gaya: Allah kay Rasul! gaey aur Bakri kay baare mein kia hukum hai? Aap ne farmaya:

“Isi tarah gaey aur Bakri ka Malik Jo unki zakat adaa nahin karta tou jab Qayamat ka din hoga tou use hawar zameen par munh kay bal gira dia jaega , un mein se koi bhi esi nahin high jis kay seengh mure hue hon ya us kay seengh na hon ya us kay seengh toote hue hon, woh use apne seenghon se marenge aur apne khuron se rondhenge, Jab un mein se pehli guzar jaegi tou us par akhri ko phir se lautaya jaega, ye Amal us din, jis ki miqdar 50 hazar saal kay barabar hogi jaari rahega hatta keh Allah logon kay mabain faisla farma dega , phir woh apni raah dekhega jannat ki taraf ya Jahannum ki taraf “

Aur Aap (ﷺ) ne farmaya:

“Sab se pehle 3 qisam kay log Jahannum mein dakhil honge: musallat badshah, sahibe sarwat aur maal daar shakhs Jo maal mein se Allah ta’ala ka Haq adaa nahin karta aur fakhro takabbur karne wala faqeer”      [Musnad Ahmed; 325,379/4; Ibne Khuzaimah: 2249]

Ibne Abbas رضي الله عنهما bayan karte hain, jis shakhs kay pas is qadar maal ho keh woh us kay zarie hajje baitullah ka fareeza adaa kar sakta ho, lekin woh shakhs Hajj na kare ya us kay pas is qadar maal ho keh us par zakat wajib hoti ho aur woh uski zakat adaa na kare tou woh maut kay waqt dobara Dunia ki taraf Jane ki darkhwast karega , is par ek aadmi ne unse kaha: Ibne Abbas! Allah ta’ala se daro, Dunia mein dobara Jane ki darkhwast tou sirf kuffar hi karenge , Ibne Abbas رضي الله عنهما ne farmaya:

Main is baare mein tumhen Quran sunata hun, Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

وَ اَنْفِقُوْا مِنْ مَّا رَزَقْنٰكُمْ مِّنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ یَّاْتِیَ اَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ فَیَقُوْلَ رَبِّ لَوْ لَاۤ اَخَّرْتَنِیْۤ اِلٰۤى اَجَلٍ قَرِیْبٍۙ-فَاَصَّدَّقَ وَ اَكُنْ مِّنَ الصّٰلِحِیْنَ۞ 
 

“Aur ham ne jo kuch tum ko de rakha hai, is se pehle keh Tum mein se kisi par maut ae use kharch karo, warna kahega: ae mere Rabb! Tu ne mujhe thori si maut tak dheel kyun na do tou main khairaat karta aur naik bandon mein se hota, (main saliheen mein se hota)”

 (Al munafiqoon 63:10)

 

Ya’ani main zakat adaa karta ya Hajj adaa karta , aap se pucha gaya: zakat kitni miqdar mein wajib hoti hai? Farmaya:
Jab maal 200 dirham tak pohonch jae to zakat wajib ho jati hai, pucha gaya keh Hajj kab wajib hota hai? To farmaya:
Jab zaade raah aur sawari ho [Imam Ibne Kathir ne apni Tafseer mein ise Tirmidhi ki taraf mansoob kia hai]

 

Mubah zewrat jab iste’mal kay lie banae jaen tou un par zakat nahin, lekin agar woh tijarat ya kiraye aur ujrat kay lie tayar kie jaen tou un par zakat wajib hai aur samane tijarat ki qeemat par zakat wajib hai, Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Jis shakhs ko Allah maal ataa kare aur woh us ki zakat adaa na kare tou Qayamat kay din us (maal) ko us kay lie ganja saanp bana dia jaega , uski ankhon par do siyah nuqte honge , Qayamat kay din woh us kay gale mein daal dia jaega, woh us kay do jabron se pakar kar kahega: Main tera maal hun, main tera khazana hun” phir yeh ayat tilawat farmai:

وَ لَا یَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِیْنَ یَبْخَلُوْنَ بِمَاۤ اٰتٰىهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ هُوَ خَیْرًا لَّهُمْؕ-بَلْ هُوَ شَرٌّ لَّهُمْؕ-سَیُطَوَّقُوْنَ مَا بَخِلُوْا بِهٖ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَةِؕ

 

Aur woh log jo is cheez kay kharch karne mein bukhul karte hain Jo Allah ne apni inayat se unhen de rakhi hai ye khayal na karen keh woh un kay lie behtar hai balkeh woh un kay lie bohot buri cheez hai, jis maal mein woh bukhul kar rahe hain yaqeenan Qayamat kay din usi kay tauq unhen daale jaenge ” 

[(Aal-e-Imran 3:180)]

 

Ibne Mas’ood رضي الله عنه ne Allah ta’ala kay maani’eene zakat kay baare mein farmaan:

 

یَّوْمَ یُحْمٰى عَلَیْهَا فِیْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوٰى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَ جُنُوْبُهُمْ وَ ظُهُوْرُهُمْؕ

 

“Jis din un (khazanon) ko Jahannum ki aag mein rakh kar garam kia jaega, phir unki paishanian, un kay pehlu aur unki pushten unse daagh di jaengi”

(At tawbah 9:35)

 

Ki tafseer mein farmaya:

Ese nahin hoga keh deenar ko deenar par aur dirham ko dirham par rakha jaega belkeh uski jild ko is qadar wasee’ kar dia jaega keh har deenar aur har dirham alag alag us par rakha jaega.

Agar yeh kaha jae keh daagh dene kay lie paishani, pehlu aur pusht ko kyun khaas kia gaya hai? Tou uska jawab yeh hai keh jab bakheel maal daar, kisi faqeer ko dekhta hai tou apne chehre par tewri charha leta hai, Paishani par bal dalta hai aur apne pehlu badal leta hai aur jab woh us kay qareeb ata hai tou yeh apna rukh dusri taraf kar leta hai, pas in a’aza ko daagh dia jaega taakeh jaza jinse Amal se ho.

Aur aap (ﷺ) ne farmaya:

“5 kay badle 5”

Sahaba ne arz kia :

5 kay badle 5 kia hain?

Ap ne farmaya:

“Jab koi qaum ehed shikni karti hai tou Allah un kay dushman ko un par musallat kar deta hai , jab woh Allah ki nazil kardah sharee’at kay mutabiq faisle nahin karte tou un mein faqar aam hojata hai, jab un mein be-hayai aam hojati hai tou phir un mein maut bhi aam hojati hai, jab woh naap taul mein kami karte hain tou phir wahan nabatato anaaj ka ugna rok dia jata hai aur unhen qeher mein mubtala kar dia jata hai aur jab woh zakat adaa nahin karte tou unse Barish na qatra tak rok dia jata hai “ [At Tabrani; Iski sanad Hasan kay qareeb hai aur is kay shawahid bhi hain]

 

Naseehat:

 

Un logon se keh den, Jin kay ghurooro faraib ne unko Dunia mein mashghool aur ghafil rakha , unka anjam halakat hai, unhon ne jo kuch jama kia, tou woh un kay kuch Kam na aya, jab woh ajaega jis se unhen daraya jata tha, us din us (maal) ko Jahannum ki aag mein garam kia jaega tou us se unki paishanion , un kay pehluon aur unki pushton ko daagh dia jaega, tou woh un kay quloobo uqool se Kese ghaib hogai hai, jis din usko Jahannum ki aag mein garam kia jaega aur usse unki paishanion un kay pehluon aur unki pushton ko daagh dia jaega, maal ko uqoobat khane ki taraf le jaya jaega aur use bhatti mein daal dia jaega taakeh use garam kia jae aur azab ko sakht kia jae, pas taakhtion aur platon ko chora kia jaega, taakeh daagh dene ka Amal Puri jild par ho, phir use laya jaega jo hidayat se ghaib raha, phir woh ek jagah ki taraf dorega, lekin woh un logon kay stah nahin hoga jinka Noor daur raha hoga, phir us maal ko Jahannum ki aag mein garam kia jaega aur us kay Sath un ki peshaniyon, un kay pehlo’on aur un ki pushton ko daagh diya jaega. Un ( maal daaron) ki kaifiyat ye thi keh jab faqeer un se milta tou wo aziyat uthata. Jab wo un se koi cheez talab karta tou chingariyon ki tarah un se ghazab kay shoole buland hote. Agar wo us par koi mehrbani aur inayat karte tou wo kehte: us ne tumhen tangg kiya aur us ka sawal is liye hai, agar tera Rab chahta tou wo muhtaaj ko Ghani o be Niyaz bana deta. Haye taajub aur afsoos hai keh jab un ki qabren un ko mila dengi tou unhe kis qadar gham se do chaar hona parega. Jis din us ko jahannum ki aag mein garam kiya jaega tou un ki peshaniyon’ un kay pehlo’on aur un ki pushton ko daagh diya jaega aur waris un se kisi takleef kay bagher hi le lega. Aur us ( maal) ko jama karne wale se pocha jaega keh kahan se kamaya aur kia kamaya. Albatta taru taza khajoor tou waris ko mil jaengi aur kante us ( maal jama karne wale) kay hisse mein ajaenge. Tou phir us Malik ko jama karne walon ki hirs kahan gai? Un ki aqlen kaha hain jis rooz us ( maal) ko jahannum ki aag mein garam kiya jaega, aur phir un ki peshaniyon, un kay pehlo’on aur un ki pushton ko daagh diya jaega, agar tum un ( maal jama karne walon) ko jahannum kay tabqaat mein dekh leta, jab unhe darham o deenar kay angaaron par ulat pulat kiya jaega. Aur khush haali hone kay bawajood bukhuli karne ki wajah se daaen ko baaen kay sath bandh diya jaega, kash keh tum unhe jahannum mein dekh lete, jab unhe khoolta hua Pani pilaya jaega aur un kay sabir log bhi mushaqqat o takleef ki wajah se cheekh o pukar karenge aur jis din us maal ko jahannum ki aag se garam kiya jaega aur phir us se un kay chehron, un kay pehlo’on aur un ki pushton ko daagh diya jaega. Un ko duniya mein kisi qadar wa’az o nasihat ki jati thi, lekin us waqt un mein koi bhi aisa shakhs nahi tha jo sunta, aur unhe Allah kay azab o aqaab se kis qadar daraya gaya, lekin un mein koi bhi aisa nahi tha jo darta, un ko Zakaat na dene ki wajah se kis qadar mutanabbe aur agah kiya gaya, lekin ( us kay bawajood) un mein se koi bhi aisa shakhs nahi jo Zakaat ada kar sake. Pas goya keh un kay maal ganje sanp ki shakal ikhtyar kar lenge. Pas ye Moosa ka Assa ( lathi ) hai na un ka tour, jis din us ( maal) ko jahannum ki aag mein garam kiya jaega aur phir us kay sath un chehron, un kay Pehluon aur unki pushton ko daagh dia jaega “

Hikayat :

Muhammad bin Yousuf Firyabi se marwi hai, woh bayan karte hain, main apne chand sathion kay Sath Abu Sinan ki ziyarat karne kay lie gaya, pas jab ham us kay pas gae aur wahan beth gae tou unhon ne kaha: utho, hamare Sath ek parosi ki mulaqat kay lie Chalo, uska Bhai faut ho gaya hai taakeh ham usse ta’ziat kar aen, pas ham un kay Sath uthe aur us aadmi kay pas chale gae , ham ne use apne Bhai ki wafat par bohot rote hue aur jaza’ karte hue paya, pas ham usse izhare hamdardi wa ta’ziat karne aur tasalli dene kay lie beth gae, lekin us ne koi tasalli qubool ki na ta’ziat, tou ham ne kaha:

Kis Tumhen ma’lum nahin keh maut edi sabeel hai jis se bachna na-mumkin hai, us ne kaha kyun nahin theek hai, balkeh main tou us azab par rota hun jis se subha sham Mera Bhai do chaar hai, ham ne use kaha: kia Allah ne tumhen ghaib par muttale’ kar dia hai? Us ne kaha: nahin, lekin bat kuch is tarah hai keh jab main ne use dafan kardia aur us par matti barabar kar di aur log wapas agae tou main uski qabar kay pas beth gaya, tou itne mein qabar se awaz aane lagi: haae! Tum ne azab ki sakhtion kay lie mujhe akela hi chor dia hai, main tou namaz parha karta tha roze rakha karta tha, woh kehne Laga : uski baton ne mujhe rula dia , pas main ne us ka haal janne kay lie usse matti hatai tou dekha keh qabar mein aag bharak rahi hai, aur uski gardan mein aag ka tauq hai , pas shafqate akhuwat ne mujhe bar- angektah kia aur main ne uski gardan se tauq utarne kay lie apna hath daraz kia tou Meri unglian aur hath jal gaya phir us ne apna hath Nikal kar hamen dikhaya tou woh jal kar siyah ho Chuka tha, woh bayan karte hain keh main ne dobara us par matti daal di aur wapas chala aya (ab batao) main us kay haal par kese na roun aur us par gham na karun? Ham ne pucha: tumhara Bhai Dunia mein kia Amal karta tha?

Us ne bataya: woh apne maal ki zakat adaa nahin kia karta tha, rawi bayan karte hain: ham ne kaha:

Yeh Allah ta’ala kay farman ki tasdeeq hai: 

 

وَ لَا یَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِیْنَ یَبْخَلُوْنَ بِمَاۤ اٰتٰىهُمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ هُوَ خَیْرًا لَّهُمْؕ-بَلْ هُوَ شَرٌّ لَّهُمْؕ-سَیُطَوَّقُوْنَ مَا بَخِلُوْا بِهٖ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَةِؕ

 

“Aur woh log, Jo is cheez kay kharch karne mein bukhul karte hain, Jo Allah ne apni inayat mein unhen de rakha hai , yeh khayal karte hain keh woh un kay lie behtar hai, balkeh woh un kay lie bohot buri cheez hai, jis maal mein woh bukhul kar rahe hain yaqeenan Qayamat kay din usi kay tauq unhen daale jaenge

(Aal-e-Imran 3:180)

Aur tere Bhai ko Roz-e-Qayamat tak uski qabar mein hi jald azab mein mubtala kar dia gaya hai, raawi bayan karte hain: phir ham wahan se Nikal kar RasullAllah ﷺ kay sahabi Abu Zar رضي الله عنه  kay pas aey aur ham ne unhen kaha: yahudi aur nasrani bhi tou faut hote hain lekin ham un mein esi cheezen aur waqiat nahin dekhte ! Unhon ne farmaya: un kay baare mein tou koi shak hi nahin keh woh Jahannumi hain lekin Allah ta’ala aise waqiat ehle Iman mein se tumhen dikhata hai taakeh tum ibrat hasil karo, Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

 

فَمَنْ اَبْصَرَ فَلِنَفْسِهٖۚ-وَ مَنْ عَمِیَ فَعَلَیْهَاؕ

 

Pas jo shakhs (Roshan dalail) dekh lega, uska apna faida hai aur jo shakhs andha rahega uska apna nuqsan hai”

(Al An’aam 6:104)

 

وَ مَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِیْدِ۞

 

“Aur tera Rabb bande par zulm nahin karta”

(Hameem sajdah 46:41)

 

Pas ham Allah se darguzar aur aafiat ka sawal karte hain, kyun keh woh sakhi daata fayyaz hai.

*Bila-uzar Ramzan ka roza na rakhna:*

Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا كُتِبَ عَلَیْكُمُ الصِّیَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُوْنَۙ۞اَیَّامًا مَّعْدُوْدٰتٍؕ-فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَّرِیْضًا اَوْ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ اَیَّامٍ اُخَرَؕ

 

“Ae Iman walo! Tum par roze isi tarah farz kie gae hen jis tarah keh tum se pehle logon par farz kie gae the, taakeh tum muttaqi ban Jao (roze) ginti kay chand roz hain, phir tum mein se jo bimar ho ya safar mein ho, tou woh us ginti ko ba’ad mein pura kar de”

(Al Baqarah 2: 183-184)

 

Nabi ﷺ se riwayat hai keh aap ne farmaya:

 

“Islam ki buniyad 5 cheezon par hai , gawahi dena keh Allah kay Siwa koi ma’bud nahin, aur yeh keh Muhammad ﷺ Allah kay Rasul hain, namaz qaim karna, zakat adaa karna, baitullah ka Hajj karna aur Ramzan kay roze rakhna” [Bukhari 8; Muslim 16]

Aur aap ﷺ ne farmaya:

Jo shakhs Ramzan ka ek roza bila-uzar chor de tou phir woh agar zindagi bhar bhi roza rakhta rahe tou woh uski qaza nahin de sakta” [Tirmidhi, Nisai, Ibne majah]

Ibne Abbas رضي الله عنهما ne farmaya:

Islam kay kunde aur Deen ki buniyaden 3 cheezon par hai , gawahi dena keh Allah ta’ala kay Siwa koi ma’bud nahin, namaz aur roza, pas jis shakhs ne in mein se kisi ek ko chor dia tou woh kafir hai

Na’uzu billahi min zalik.

 

Allah ta’ala ne farmaya:

وَ لِلّٰهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَیْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ اِلَیْهِ سَبِیْلًاؕ

 

“Allah ki taraf se logon par farz hai keh jo us tak pohonchne ki taqat rakhe woh khana ka’abah ka Hajj kare”

(Aal-e-Imran 3:97)

 

Aur Nabi ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Jo shakhs zaade raah aur sawari rakhta ho Jo use baitullahil Haram ka Hajj karne tak pohoncha de aur woh phir bhi Hajj na kare tou phir us par is baat ka koi haraj nahin keh woh yahudi faut ho ya eesai”

[Tirmidhi aur Baihiqi ne a’war ki sanad se Ali رضي الله عنه se riwayat kia hai aur Baihiqi mein Abu umama رضي الله عنه se marwi riwayat iska Shahid hai]

Aur yeh islie hai keh Allah ta’ala farmata hai :

وَ لِلّٰهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَیْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ اِلَیْهِ سَبِیْلًاؕ

 

“Allah ki taraf se logon par farz hai keh jo us tak pohonchne ki taqat rakhe woh khana ka’abah ka Hajj kare”

(Aal-e-Imran 3: 97)

 

Umar bin Khattab رضي الله عنه ne farmaya:

“Main ne iradah kia keh main un shehron ki taraf aadmi bhejun taakeh woh is cheez ka jaaiza len keh jo log taqat hone kay bawajud Hajj nahin karte , tou woh ese logon par jizya Laga den, kyun keh woh musalman nahin hain”    [ Saeed bin Mansoor ne Hasan Basri se apni Sunan mein riwayat kia hai]

Ibne Abbas رضي الله عنهما ne farmaya:

“Jo shakhs na Hajj karta hai na apne maal ki zakat adaa karta hai tou woh maut kay waqt dobara Dunia ki Zindagi ka sawal karta hai, unse kaha gaya: is tarah ka sawal tou kafir karte hain, unhon ne kaha: ye cheez Allah ta’ala ki kitab mein hai:

وَ اَنْفِقُوْا مِنْ مَّا رَزَقْنٰكُمْ مِّنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ یَّاْتِیَ اَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ فَیَقُوْلَ رَبِّ لَوْ لَاۤ اَخَّرْتَنِیْۤ اِلٰۤى اَجَلٍ قَرِیْبٍۙ-فَاَصَّدَّقَ وَ اَكُنْ مِّنَ الصّٰلِحِیْنَ۞

 

“Aur ham ne jo kuch tum ko de rakha hai isse pehle keh Tum mein se kisi ek ko maut ae (hamari raah mein) kharch karo, warna kahega; ae mere Rabb! Tu ne mujhe thori muddat tak dheel kyun na di tou main khairaat karta aur naik bandon mein se hota”

(Al Munafiqoon 63: 10)

فأصدق
Ya’ani main zakat adaa karta

واكن من الصالحين
Ya’ani main Hajj karta

وَ لَنْ یُّؤَخِّرَ اللّٰهُ نَفْسًا اِذَا جَآءَ اَجَلُهَاؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ خَبِیْرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ۠۞

 

“Aur jab kisi ki maut ajae tou Allah use qat’an koi dheel nahin deta aur jo kuch tum karte ho, Allah isse Puri tarah waqif hai”

(Al munafiqoon 63:11)

Unse pucha gaya, zakat kitne (maal) par wajib hoti hai? Unhon ne farmaya: 200 dirham aur uski qeemat kay sone par, phir pucha gaya: kin halat mein wajib hota hai? Unhon ne kaha: zaade raah aur sawari hone ki surat mein Hajj wajib hojata hai.

Saeed bin Jubair رضي الله عنه ne farmaya:

Mera ek maal daar aur khush haal parosi faut ho gaya, us ne Hajj nahin kia tha, pas main ne uski namaze janazah nahin parhai.

5. Refusing to pay zakat

Allah Almighty says:

“Those who are tight-fisted with the bounty Allah has given them should not suppose that that is better for them. No indeed, it is worse for them! What they were tight-fisted with will be hung around their necks on the Day of Rising.” [03:180]

Allah Almighty also says:

“Woe to those who associate others with Him, those who do not pay zakat.”[41:26]

He calls them idolators. Allah Almighty further says:

“As for those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the Way of Allah, give them the news of a painful punishment on the Day it is heated up in the fire of Hell and their foreheads, sides and backs are branded with it: This is for what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you were hoarding.” [09:34]

It is confirmed that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “There is no one who has gold or silver and does not pay what is due on them without them being turned, on the Day of Rising, into slabs of fire and being heated in the Fire of Hell and their sides, foreheads and backs being branded with them. Every time they cool they will be heated again throughout a day whose length is fifty thousand years, until people’s fates have been decided and they see their way open either to the Garden or to the Fire.” He was asked, “Messenger of Allah, what about camels?” He (ﷺ) said, “There is no owner of camels who fails to fulfil what is due to them and one of their rights is to be milked on the day they are watered without, on the Day of Rising, being thrown on his face on account of them onto a very wide level plain. Not even one young camel will be missing and they will trample him with their hooves and bite him with their teeth. When the last of them have passed over him, then the first of them will return again to him throughout a day whose length is fifty thousand years until people’s fates have been decided and he sees his way open either to the Garden or to the Fire.” (al-Bukhari and Muslim) The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The first three to enter the Fire will be a harsh ruler, someone with wealth who did not pay the right of Allah on his property, and a poor man who is boastful.” (al-Mundhiri)

Ibn ‘Abbas ( رضی اللہ عنہ) said, “If someone has the wealth to allow him to complete hajj of the House of Allah Almighty and he does not make hajj, or the wealth on which zakat is obligatory and he does not pay zakat, he will ask to return when he dies.” A man said to him, “Fear Allah, Ibn ‘Abbas. It is only the unbelievers who ask to return.” Ibn ‘Abbas ( رضی اللہ عنہ) said, “I will recite to you evidence for that in the Qur’an. Allah Almighty says: ‘Give from what We have provided for you, before death comes to one of you and he says, “My Lord, if only You would give me a little more time so that I can give sadaqa [i.e. pay zakat] and be one of the righteous [i.e. perform hajj].” [63:10] He was asked, “When does zakat become obligatory?” He answered, “When a person’s wealth reaches two hundred dirhams, then it is obligatory to pay zakat on it.” He was asked, “What makes hajj obligatory?” He answered, “Provision and a mount.”

Abu Hurayra ( رضی اللہ عنہ) said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “If Allah gives someone wealth and he does not pay the zakat due on it, on the Day of Rising it will take on the likeness of a bald-headed poisonous snake with two black dots over its eyes which will encircle his neck, biting his jaws, and say, ‘I am your wealth. I am your treasure.”” Then he recited this ayat: “Those who are miserly with the bounty Allah has given them should not suppose that that is better for them. No indeed, it is worse for them! What they were miserly with will be hung around their necks on the Day of Rising” [03:180]. Al- Bukhari transmitted it.

Ibn Mas’ud ( رضی اللہ عنہ) spoke about the words of Allah Almighty referring to those who refuse to pay zakat: “On the Day it is beated up in the fire of Hell and their foreheads, sides and backs are branded with it,” [09:34] and said, “A dinar will not be put on top of a dinar or a dirham on top of a dirham. His skin will be expanded so that every dinar and dirham has its place.” If it is asked why people’s faces, sides and backs are singled out for branding, it is said that it is because when a miserly wealthy person sees a pauper, he scowls, averts his eyes and turns away. When he comes close to him, he turns his back. He is punished by being branded on these limbs so that the retaliation is made on the parts involved in the original action.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Five for five.” They asked, “Messenger of Allah, what is ‘five for five”?” He answered, “A people do not break a contract without Allah giving their enemy power over them. They do not judge by other than what Allah has revealed without poverty spreading among them. Fornication does not appear among them without death spreading among them. They do not skimp in the weight and measure without being denied crops and experiencing famine. They do not deny zakat without rain being withheld from them.”

Warning: Tell those who are distracted by this world that their delusions will vanish tomorrow and what they amassed will be of no use to them. What they were warned about will come about on the Day when their wealth will be heated up in Hellfire and their foreheads, sides and backs branded, so how can it be absent from their hearts and minds now? On the Day it is heated up in Hellfire and their foreheads, sides and backs are branded, their wealth will be taken to the place where the punishment is imposed and put into a crucible to be heated in order to increase its severity. It will be heated in the Fire of Hell and their foreheads, sides and backs will be branded with it.

When a poor person encounters them, he encounters harm. When he asks them for something, flames of anger fly from them like firebrands. They forgot the wisdom of their Creator regarding the wealth of this one and the poverty of that one. It is extraordinary how much grief they will encounter when they are in their graves. The Fire of Hell will be heated over them and their foreheads, sides and backs branded with it. Their heirs will inherit from them without difficulty. He will have thorns whereas his heirs will have fresh dates. If you could only see them in the depths of the Fire, being turned on a spit over the burning coals of their dinars and dirhams,

trussed up because they were miserly with their wealth! If you could see them in Hellfire drinking boiling water and even those who are stoical crying out when their foreheads, sides and backs are branded. How often they were warned in this world and did not listen! How often they were told to fear the punishment of Allah and none of them were alarmed! How often they were told about refusing to pay zakat and were not moved!

Story: It is related that Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Faryabi said: “I went out with a group of my companions to visit Abu Sinan. When we went into where he was and sat with him, he said, ‘Let’s go and visit a neighbour of ours whose brother has died and console him for his loss.’ We rose with him and visited that man and found him weeping and grieving for his brother. We sat down to console him but he did not accept our comfort and consolation. We said, ‘Do you not know that death is inevitable?’ He said, ‘Yes, but I weep for the morning and evening in which my brother is suffering punishment.’ We asked him, ‘Has Allah informed you of the Unseen?’ He answered, ‘No, but when I buried him and levelled the earth over him and the people left, I sat at his grave and there was a sound from his grave saying, “Oh! They have made me sit alone to undergo the punishment! I used to pray. I used to fast!”

‘His words made me weep, and I removed the earth from him to see what was happening to him. His grave was filled with fire and there was a collar of fire around his neck. The compassion of brotherhood moved me to stretch my hands to remove the collar from his neck and my fingers and hand were burned.’ He showed his hand to them and it was black and burned. He said, ‘I put the earth back and left. How can I not weep for his state and grieve over him?’ We asked, ‘What did your brother use to do in this world?’ He answered, ‘He used to not pay zakat on his wealth.” We said, “This is the confirmation of the words of Allah Almighty: “Those who are miserly with the bounty Allah has given them should not suppose that that is better for them. No indeed, it is worse for them! What they were miserly with will be hung around their necks on the Day of Rising.” [03:180] Your brother has had his punishment hastened in his grave until the Day of Rising.”

“Then we left him and went to Abu Dharre, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). We told him the story of the man and said to him, Jews and Christians die and we do not see that in their case.” He said, “There is no doubt that they are in the Fire. Allah shows you the people of faith so that you may reflect. Allah Almighty says: “Whoever sees clearly, does so to his own benefit. Whoever is blind, it is to his own detriment.” [06:104] Lord does not wrong His slaves.””

We ask Allah for pardon and protection. He is Generous, Magnanimous.
