19. SHARAAB NOSHI [Drinking Alcohal]

 Sharaab Noshi

Allah Tala ne farmaya:

 

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِنَّمَا الۡخَمۡرُ وَالۡمَيۡسِرُ وَالۡاَنۡصَابُ وَالۡاَزۡلَامُ رِجۡسٌ مِّنۡ عَمَلِ الشَّيۡطٰنِ فَاجۡتَنِبُوۡهُ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ ۞ اِنَّمَا يُرِيۡدُ الشَّيۡطٰنُ اَنۡ يُّوۡقِعَ بَيۡنَكُمُ الۡعَدَاوَةَ وَالۡبَغۡضَآءَ فِى الۡخَمۡرِ وَالۡمَيۡسِرِ وَيَصُدَّكُمۡ عَنۡ ذِكۡرِ اللّٰهِ وَعَنِ الصَّلٰوةِ‌ ۚ فَهَلۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ مُّنۡتَهُوۡنَ ۞

 

Ae Emaan walo! Sharaab peena, juwa khelna, butt poojna aur panse phenkna bilashuba na paak shaitani kaam hain, pass un se ijtinaab karo tak’keh tumhen falah hasil ho. Shaitan tou yahi chahta hai keh sharaab aur juwe kay zare’a se tumhare darmiyan dushmani aur bughz dalo de aur Allah kay zikar aur Namaz se tumhen roke tou kia ab bhi tum ( un buraiyon se ) baaz nahi ate”.

( Al-Maida 90-91 )

 

Allah Azz Wajal ne is Ayat mein sharaab se man’a kiya aur is se daraya hai. Nabi ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Sharaab se bacho, kyun keh wo buraiyon ki asal aur maa hai”.

Pass jo shakhs is se ijtinaab na kare tou us ne Allah aur us kay Rasool ki nafarmani ki aur wo Allah aur us kay Rasool ki nafarmani ki wajah se azab ka mustahiq tehra.

 

Allah Tala ne farmaya:

 

وَمَنۡ يَّعۡصِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُوۡدَهٗ يُدۡخِلۡهُ نَارًا خَالِدًا فِيۡهَا ۖ وَلَهٗ عَذَابٌ مُّهِيۡنٌ ۞

 

“Aur jo shakhs Allah aur us kay Rasool ki nafarmani kare aur us ki hudood se tajawuz kar jae, Allah usse dozakh mein dakhil karega, wo us mein hamesha rahega aur us kay liye ruswa kun azab hoga”.

( An-Nisa’ 4/14 )

 

Ibn-e-Abbas رضى الله عنهما ne farmaya: jab hurmat e sharaab kay bare mein hukum nazil hua tou Sahab Kiram aik dosre kay pas gae aur kehne lage: Sharaab haram qarar de di gai hai aur usse shirk kay brabar qarar diya gaya hai. [Tabrani fil kabeer ( 38/12 )]

Abdullah bin عمر رضي الله عنهما ka moqif hai keh sharaab kabeera gunahon mein se bara gunah hai aur us mein koi shak nahi keh ye um-ul-khabais hai aur kai ahadith mein us kay peene wale par lanat ki gai hai.

Ibn-e-Umar رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:


“Har Nasha Awar cheez sharaab hai aur har qisam ki sharaab haram hai aur jis shakhs ne duniya mein sharaab pi, wo touba kiye bagher faut hojae aur wo sharaab noshi ka aadi ho, tou aisa shakhs akhirat mein sharaab tahoor nahi piyega”. [Bukhari ( 5575 ) Muslim ( 2003 )]

Jabir رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:


“Nasha Awar ashiya istamal karne wale kay bare mein Allah par ye ahd hai keh usse dozakhiyo kay peep laho kay tilchat pilaega”.
Arz kiya gaya, Allah kay Rasool! “طيبة الخبال ” kia cheez hai?
Ap ne farmaya: dozakhiyo ka paseena ya dozakhiyo kay zakhmon ka nichoor”. [Ahmed ( 178/2 )]

 

Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:


“Jis shakhs ne duniya mein sharaab pi tou wo akhirat mein us (sharaab e tahoor ) se mehroom rahega”.    [Bukhari ( 5575 ) Muslim ( 2003 )]

Bayan kiya gaya hai keh sharaab ka aadi shakhs, butt kay pujaari ki tarah hai.


Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه se riwayat hai keh Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Sharaab ka aadi, butt kay pujaari ki tarah hai”. [Muslim ( 272/1 )]

Bayan kiya gaya hai keh sharaab ka aadi jab touba kiye bagher faut hojae tou wo Jannat mein dakhil nahi hoga.

Ibn-e-Umar رضي الله عنه se riwayat hai keh Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:


“Waldain ka nafarman aur aadi sharaab noshi Jannat mein nahi jaenge”. [Nisai]

 

Aur aik riwayat mein hai:


“Allah ne teen qisam kay logon par Jannat haram kar di hai, aadi sharaab noshi, apne Waldain ka nafarman aur dewas jo apni ahliya kay bare mein burai par khamoshi ikhtyar kar leta hai”.

Riwayat kiya gaya hai keh Allah’ Nashe mein mast shakhs ki koi naiki qubool nahi karta, Jabir bin Abdullah رضي الله عنه se riwayat kiya gaya hai keh Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Teen qisam kay log hain keh un ki namaz qubool hoti hai na un ki koi naiki Asman ki taraf buland hoti hai, Mafroor ghulam hatta keh wo Apne malikon kay pas wapis ajae’ aur apne Ap ko un kay hawale kar de’ wo aurat jis par us ka khawand naraz ho, hatta keh wo us se razi hojae aur nashe mein mast shakhs hatta keh wo be hosh mein ajae”. [Ibne Khuzaima’ Ibne Hibban]

“Khamr” wo cheez hai jo aqal ko dhanp de, khuwah wo tarr ho ya khushk, khane se ta’aluq rakhti ho ya peene se. Abu Saeed Khudri رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:
“Allah sharaab noshi ki us waqt tak namaz qubool nahi karta jab tak us ka kuch hissa bhi us kay jisam mein rehta hai”.

Aur aik riwayat hai.” Jo shakhs sharaab piye’ Allah us se koi cheez qubool nahi karta aur jis ko us se nasha hojae tou us ki chalees Roz ki Namaz qubool nahi hoti, agar wo touba kar le aur phir pi le tou Allah par haq hai keh wo us ko jahannum ki peep pilae”.

Aur Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya:


“Jo shakhs sharaab piye aur nasha na charhe tou Allah se chalees Roz tak airaaz karta hai Aur jo shakhs sharaab piye aur usse nasha parh jae tou Allah is halat mein faut hojae tou wo butt poojne wale ki maut marega aur Allah par haq hai keh usse “طيبة الخبال” kia cheez hai? Ap ne farmaya: Jahannumiyo ki peep aur khoon ka nichoor”.  [ Ibne Hibban]

Abdullah bin Abi Adfi bayan karte hain: aadi sharaab noshi ki halat mein faut ho tou wo laat aur izzi kay pujaari ki maut marta hai, kaha gaya: bataen kia aadi sharaab noshi wo hai, jo apni sharaab se hosh mein na aae. Unho ne kaha: nahi , balkeh is se wo shakhs murad hai keh jab bhi usse sharaab muyassar ajae, khuwah saalon kay ba’ad ho, wo usse pi jae.

Zikar kiya gaya hai keh jo shakhs sharaab peeta, wo jis waqt sharaab peeta hai tou wo us waqt Momin nahi hota. Hazrat Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه, Nabi ﷺ se riwayat karte hain, Ap ne farmaya:
“Chour jab chouri karta hai, tou wo us waqt Momin nahi hota, Zaani jab zinna karta hai, tou wo jis waqt zinna karta hai, us waqt Momin nahi hota, aur sharaab noshi jab sharaab noshi karta hai tou wo us waqt Momin nahi hota aur us kay ba’ad touba pesh ki jaegi.”  [Bukhari]

Aur Hadith mein hai:


“Jo shakhs zinna karta hai ya sharaab peeta hai tou Allah us se Emaan ko is tarah nikal leta hai, jis tarah insaan apne sar we qamees utarta hai”. [Mustadrak Hakim]

Aur is mein hai: Jo shakhs sham kay waqt sharaab peeta hai tou wo subah kay waqt mushrik hojata hai aur jo subah kay waqt usse peeta hai tou wo sham kay waqt mushrik hojata hai.

Aur is mein hai: Nabi ﷺ se riwayat hai keh Ap ne farmaya: “Jannat ki Khushbo panchh Soo Saal ki musafat se ajati hai, lekin Waldain ka nafarman, ahsaan jatlane wala, sharaab ka Aadi aur but ka pujari, iski khushbu bhi nahin paenge” [ Tabrani ne ise as sagheer mein riwayat kia hai aur yeh Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه se marwi hai, munzari ne is kay za’eef hone ki taraf ishara kia hai]

Abu Musa Ash’ari رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain, RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Aadi sharab nosh, Jadu par yaqeen rakhne wala aur qata’ rehmi karne Wala jannat mein nahin jaenge, Jo shakhs is haal mein faut ho keh woh sharab pita ho tou Allah usko “nehre ghauta ” se pilaega aur woh aisa Pani hai jo zania aurton ki sharamgahon se jaari hota hai, Jahannumi un sharamgahon se uthne wali badbu se takleef mehsus karenge ” [Ibne Hibban]

Aur RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Allah ne mujhe jahanon kay lie rehmat aur hidayat bana kar mab’oos kia hai, aalate moseeqi aur amre jahiliyat ko khatam karne kay lie mujhe mab’oos kia hai, Rabb ta’ala ne apni izzat ki Qasam utha kar kaha: mere bandon mein se jo bandah ek ghoont sharab piega tou main usi shakal mein usko Jahannum ka kholta hua Pani pilaunga, aur mere bandon mein se jo bandah mere khauf ki wajah se use chor dega tou main use wohi cheez (sharabe tahoor) jannat mein behtreen sathion kay Sath pilaunga “

[ Imam Ahmed ne Abu Umama ki Hadith Ali bin yazeed kay tareeq se ise riwayat kia hai , is mein ikhtilaf hai aur aksar ne ise za’eef qarar dia hai]

 

Jis shakhs par sharab kay baare mein la’anat ki gai, uska zikar RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Sharab, us kay peene wale, us kay saaqi, us kay bechne wale, khareedne wale, us kay nichorne wale, ras nikalwane wale, us kay uthane (lane) wale, jis kay lie laai gai aur uski qeemat khane wale par la’anat ki gai ”   [Abu Dawood]

Ibne Abbas رضي الله عنهما bayan karte hain, main ne RasullAllah ﷺ ko farmate hue suna: Jibrael عليه السلام mere pas ae tou unhon ne kaha:

Muhammad ﷺ! Allah ne sharab, uska ras nikalne wale, nikalwane wale, bechne wale khareedne wale, peene wale, uski qeemat khane wale, lane wale, jis kay lie lai jae, us kay saaqi aur uski talab karne wale par la’anat ki hai” [Ahmad, Ibne Hibban]

Jab sharab nosh beemar hojae tou uski ‘ayadat karne aur isi tarah use Salam na karne wale kay baare mein Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain:

“Jab sharab nosh beemar hojae tou uski ‘ayadat na karo”

Ibne Umar رضي الله عنه ne farmaya:

“Sharab nosh ko Salam na karo”

Aur aap ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Sharab noshon ki ham nasheeni ikhtiyar na karo na un kay mareezon ki ayadat karo aur na hi un kay janazon kay Sath jao, kyun keh sharab nosh Roz-e-Qayamat is haal mein aega keh uska chehra siyah hoga, piyas ki wajah se apni zaban apne seene ki taraf Nikal raha hoga, uska lu’aab beh raha hoga, use dekhne wala har shakhs use malamat kar raha hoga aur use pehchan lega keh woh sharab nosh hai”                                                                               [ Ibne Jawzi ne ise mozoo’at mein zikar kia hai , Ibne adi ki sanad se Ibne Umar tak, aur kaha: yeh riwayat mozoo’ hai is mein lais aur ja’far bin Al hars , Abu Dawood Al ash’hab wa Abu mutee’ za’eef hain]

Ba’az ulama ne kaha: unki ayadat karne aur unhen Salam karne se mehez islie Mana kia gaya hai kyun keh sharab nosh fasiq mal’oon hai , Allah aur us kay Rasul ne us par la’anat farmai hai jesa keh pehle bayan ho Chuka hai , Allah ne sharab aur us kay pine wale par la’anat farmai hai, agar us ne use khareeda , uska ras nikala tou woh do martabah mal’oon hai aur agar us ne apne elawa use kisi ko pilaya tou woh 3 martabah mal’oon hai, pas is lie uski ayadat karne aur use Salam karne se mana’ farmaya hai, illa yeh keh woh taubah kar le kyun keh jo shakhs taubah kar leta hai tou Allah bhi uski taubah qubool farma leta hai


Sharab se elaj karna jaaiz nahin


Umme Salma رضي الله عنها bayan karti hain: Meri beti beemar hogai tou main ne ek kooze mein us kay lie nabeez tayar ki, RasullAllah ﷺ mere pas tashreef lae tou woh ubal rahi thi, aap ne farmaya: Umme Salma! ye kia hai? Main ne apko bataya keh main is se apni beti ka elaj karungi, tou RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya: “Allah ta’ala ne Meri ummat ki shifa is cheez mein nahin rakhi Jo us ne us par Haram qarar de rakhi hai” [Baihiqi, Abu Y’ala]

*Sharab kay baare mein riwayat ki hai mutafarriq ahadith ka bayan:*

Abu Musa رضي الله عنه bayan karte hain: Nabi ﷺ kay pas ek ghare mein nabeez Lai gai jo keh kholne ki awaz de rahi thi, aap ne farmaya:

“Is ko us deewar par de maaro, kyun keh yeh tou us shakhs ka mashroob hai Jo Allah aur yaume akhirat par Iman nahin rakhta”

Aur RasullAllah ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Jis shakhs kay seene mein kitabullah ki ek ayat ho aur woh us par sharab daale (pie) tou Roz-e-Qayamat us ayat ka har harf aega, pas woh uski paishani ko pakrega hatta keh woh use Allah tabarak wa ta’ala kay samne khara karega aur phir woh us se jhagrega tou woh maghloob ho jaega, us shakhs kay lie halakat hai jis se Quran Roz-e-Qayamat jhagra kare”

Aur Nabi ﷺ se marwi hai:

Allah, Dunia mein jama ho kar nasha awar ashiya iste’mal karne walon ko Jahannum mein jama’ karega tou woh ek dusre kay samne apas mein malamat karenge, woh ek dusre se kahenge: ae fulan! Allah tujhe Meri taraf se jazae Khair ataa na farmae, tu ne hi ise mujhe pilaya tha, jawab mein dusra bhi isi tarah kahega”

Aur Nabi ﷺ se marwi hai keh aap ne farmaya:

“Jis shakhs ne duniya mein sharaab pi, Allah usse zehreele khatarnak sanpon ka zehr pilaega, aur us kay peene se pehle hi us kay chehre ka gosht bartan mein gir jaega, pass jab wo usse pi lega tou us ka gosht aur us ki jild gir jaegi, jis se jahannumi takleef mehsoos karenge. Sun lo! Is ko peene wala, us ka ras nikalne wala, sab us kay gunah mein shareek hain. Jab tak touba na karen Allah un ka koi farz qubool karta hai na nafil aur Hajj, pas agar wo touba karne se pehle faut hojaen tou Allah par haq hai keh wo un ko us kay har ghoont kay badle mein, jo unho ne duniya mein pi thi, jahannum ki peep pilae. Sun lo! Har Nasha Awar cheez sharaab hai aur har sharaab haram hai “.

Aur Ap ﷺ ne farmaya: “har Nasha Awar cheez sharaab hai”. Is mein has’sheesh bhi dakhil hai, jaisa keh is bare mein InshaAllah baat hogi.

Aur marvi hai: “jab sharaab noshi pull siraat par aenge tou azab kay darooge unhe nehr e khayal ki taraf uchhak lenge, tou unhe har jaam kay badle, jo unho ne jaam sharaab nosh kiya tha, nehr e khayal se jaam pilaya jaega, agar wo mashroob Asman se giraya jae tou sare Asman us ki hararat se jal jaen, نعوذ بالله منها

 

Sharaab kay bare mein Salf se marvi Aasar ka bayan :

 

Ibne Masood رضي الله عنه ne farmaya: jab sharaab nosh faut hojae tou usse dafan karo, phir us ko lakri par sooli charhao, phir us ki qabar ukharo, pass agar tum us ka chehra Qible se mura hua na dekho tou theek warna usse sooli par charha hua chor do.

Fazeel bin Eyaas رحمه الله se riwayat hai keh wo apne aik shagird kay pas us waqt gae jab us ki maut ka waqt qareeb tha, tou ye usse Kalim e Shahadat ki talqeen karne lage, us ki zaban se ye kalimat ada nahi ho rahe the, unho ne bar bar usse parhne ki talqeen ki, tou us ne kaha: main usse nahi parhta, main us se bezaar hon, pass fazeel rote hue us kay pas aae, phir unho ne muddat kay ba’ad usse khuwab mein dekha keh usse aag ki taraf ghaseeta jaraha hai, tou unho ne usse kaha: ae miskeen! Tujh se ma’arifat kis wajah se cheen li gai? Us ne kaha: Ustad ji ! Mujhe koi bemari thi, main kisi tabiyat kay pas gaya tou us ne mujhe kaha: tum har saal aik pyala sharaab pi liya karo, agar tum aise nahi karoge tou phir tumhari bemari nahi jaegi, pass main batour ilaaj har saal aik pyala sharaab pi liya karta tha! Pass ye haal is ka hai jo batour ilaaj usse peeta hai, tou jo shakhs kay ilawa usse peeta hai, us ka haal kia hoga?

Ham Allah Tala se har Balae kay mutabiq Afw wa Afiyat ka sawal karte hain, kisi touba karne wale se us ki touba ka sabab pocha gaya tou us ne kaha: main qabaren khouda karta tha, tou main ne un mein murdon ko qible se hate hue dekha, tou main ne us kay mutaliq un kay ghar walon se pocha unho ne kaha: wo duniya mein sharaab piya karte the, aur wo touba kay bagher faut hojae.

Kisi Saleh shakhs ne kaha: Mera chota bacha faut hogaya, jab main ne usse dafan kar diya tou main ne us ki maut kay ba’ad usse khuwab mein dekha keh us ka sar safaid ho chuka hai, main ne kaha: mere bache! Main ne tumhen dafan kiya tha, us waqt tum tou chote the, tou tumhen kis cheez ne borha kar diya? Us ne kaha: Abba jaan! Mere parhoos mein aik shakhs hai jo duniya mein sharaab piya karta tha. Us kay aane par jahannum ne aik saans liya hai, pass us kay saans ki shiddat ki wajah se har bache ka sar safaid hogaya hai. نعوذ بالله منهما ، ham akhirat mein azab ka baais ban’ne wali har cheez kay bare mein Allah Tala se Afw wa Afiyat ki darkhuwast karte hain, pass bande par wajib hai keh wo us se pehle pehle, Allah Tala kay Huzoor touba kar le, keh usse maut aae tou wo bohat buri halat par ho, jis kay sabab usse jahannum mein daal diya jae,
*نعوذ بالله منهما*

Fasal

Post kay patton se banai hoi has’sheesh bhi sharaab ki tarah haram hai. Us kay peene wale ko bhi, sharaab peene wale ki tarah had lagai jaegi aur ye sharaab se bhi ziyada khabees hai, is Lihaz se yeh aqlo mizaj ko kharab kar deti hai hatta keh woh aadmi mein mukhannas wa dayoosi ki khaslaten paida kar deti hai aur is kay elawa bhi bohot se fasado kharabian hain, jab keh ek lihaz se sharab ziada buri hai, kyun keh woh jhagre aur muqatle tak pohoncha deti hai aur yeh donon Allah ta’ala kay zikar aur namaz se rok deti hain.

Ba’az muta’akhireen ulama ne iski hadd kay baare mein tawaqquf kia hai aur unka khayal hai keh agar koi shakhs use kha le tou use hadd lagane ki bajae us par ta’zeer lagai jae , unka khayal hai keh woh masti kay bagher aqal ko mutaghayyar mar deti hai aur yeh bhang ki tarah hai, ulama mutaqaddimeen se is kay baare mein koi Kalam nahin, halan keh is tarah nahin hai balkeh usse bhi ziada woh iski raghbat rakhte hain, hatta keh woh isse ruk nahin sakte , aur jab woh iska ziada iste’mal karte hain tou woh unhen Allah ta’ala kay zikar aur namaz se rokti hai aur is kay Sath sath woh us men dayusiat wa takhannas, mizajo aqal kay bigaar kay elawa bhi Kai kharabian hain, lekin jab woh jamid ho, khai jati ho, pi na jati ho tou phir uski najasat kay baare mein ulama ka ikhtilaf hai, is kay 3 aqwal hain aur yeh imam Ahmed waghera kay mazhab may mutabiq hain

1- kisi ne kaha: yeh sharab mashroob ki tarah najis hai aur yahi ai’tebaar Sahih hai

2- ba’az ne kaha: is kay khushk hone kay baa’is najis nahin

3 ba’az ne kaha: is kay jamid aur is kay maae’ hone kay ai’tebaar se is mein farq kia jaega

Beherhaal yeh lafzan wa ma’anan nasha awar sharab kay zumre mein dakhil hai, jise Allah aur us kay Rasul ne Haram qarar dia hai

Abu Musa رضي الله عنه ne kaha: Allah kay Rasul! Hamen in do sharabon “taba'” aur “muzar” kay muta’alliq bataen Jo ham yaman mein banaya karte the

“Taba'” ye shehed se nabeez banai jati thi hatta keh woh sakht hojati

“Muzar” yeh makai aur jau se banai jati hai aur yeh bhi sakht hojati

Rawi bayan karte hain, RasullAllah ﷺ ko jawami’ul kalim ataa kie gae, aap ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Har nasha awar cheez Haram hai”

AurAap ﷺ ne farmaya:

“Jis cheez ki kaseer miqdar nasha charha de tou us ki qaleel miqdar bhi Haram hai”

Aap ﷺ ne us us kay maakool ya mashroob hone ki Bina par kisi qisam mein farq nahin kia, kyun keh sharab kay Sath aata gundh kar roti bhi banai jati hai aur uski hasheesh ko Pani mein Hal kar kay pi lia jata hai aur sharab pi aur khai jati hai aur hasheesh pi aur khai jati hai , ulama ne iska zikar nahin kia kyun keh guzishta salaf kay ehed mein yeh mojood nahin thi, yeh tou tatarion kay bilade Islam ki taraf aane par wujood mein ai hai, is kay wasf kay baare mein aik shair kaha gaya hai:

فآكلها وزارعها حلالًا
فتلك على الشقي مصيبتان

“Pas ise halal samajh kar khane wala aur use kasht karne wale bad naseeb par yeh do musibaten hain”

Allah ki Qasam! Iblees ko jis qadar hasheesh se khushi naseeb hui , is qadar woh pehle kabhi khush nahin hua, kyun keh use nufoose khaseesa kay lie muzayyan kar dia, tou unhon ne use halal aur arzan samjha

قل لمن يأكل الحشيشة جهلًا
عشت في أكلها بأقبح عيشة
قيمة المرء جوهر فلما ذا
يا أخا الجهل بعته بحشيشة

“Jo shakhs jahalat ki Bina par hasheesh khata hai, use Kaho: Tum ne ise kha kar bohot qabeeh zindagi guzari,

Aadmi ki qeemat tou jauhar hai, pas ae Bhai! Tum ne use hasheesh kay badle mein kyun bech dia”

Hikayat:

Abdullah Al Malik bin Marwan se riwayat hai keh ek naujawan rota hua rajeedah halat mein us kay pas aya tou us ne kaha: ameerul momineen! Main ne ek bohot bare gunah ka irtikab kia hai, kia mere lie taubah ki koi Surat hai? Us ne pucha: tumhara gunah kia hai? Us ne kaha: Mera gunah bohot bara hai, us ne kaha: Jo bhi ho, pas Tum Allah ta’ala kay huzoor taubah karo kyun keh woh apne bachon ki taubah qubool karta aur gunahon se darguzar karta hai

Us ne bataya: ameerul momineen! Main qabren khoda karta tha aur main us mein bohot ajeeb maamlat dekhta tha, us ne pucha: Tum ne kia dekha? Us ne bataya: ameerul momineen! Aik rat main ne qabar khodi , tou main ne sahibe qabar ko dekha keh uska chehra qible se mor dia gaya hai, pas main usse dar gaya aur main ne wahan se nikalne ka iradah kia tou qabar mein se kisi ne kaha: murde se nahin puchta keh uska chehra qible se kyun pher dia gaya hai? Main ne kaha: kyun pher dia gaya hai? Us ne bataya keh yeh namaz ko halka janta tha , use ehmiyat nahin dia karta tha, yeh us jese ki saza hai, ise zajeeron se bandh dia gaya hai aur uski gardan mein tauq hain, main tou usse dar gaya aur wahan se nikalne Laga tou koi mujhe keh raha hai: Tum isse is kay Amal kay baare mein nahin puchte keh ise azab kyun dia jaraha hai? Main ne kaha: kyun? Us ne bataya: yeh shakhs Dunia mein Sharab pia karta tha aur yeh taubah kie bagher faut ho gaya

Ameerul momineen, main ne teesri qabar khodi tou main sahibe qabar ko dekhta hun keh use zameen kay Sath aag ki mekhon se bandh dia gaya hai aur uski zaban ko uski guddi se Nikal dia gaya hai pas main tou dar gaya aur laut aya aur main nikalne Laga tou mujhe awaz di gai , Tum isse is kay haal kay muta’alliq nahin puchte? Ise kyun azmaish se do char kia gaya hai? Main ne kaha: kyun? Us ne kaha paishab se nahin bacha karta tha aur logon kay darmian baten pohonchaya karta tha , pas yeh us jese shakhs ki saza wa jaza hai.

Ameerul momineen! Main ne chothi qabar khodi tou main ne sahibe qabar ko dekha keh us par aag bharak rahi hai, main usse dar gaya aur nikalne ka iradah kia tou kaha gaya: Tum is se is kay aur is kay haal kay muta’alliq nahin puchte? Main ne kaha: iska haal kia hai? Us ne kaha: yeh namaz ka taarik hai.

Ameerul momineen! Main ne panchwi qabar khodi tou main ne use dekha keh woh hadde Nazar tak mayyat par wasee’ hai, us mein Noor phela hua hai, jab keh mayyat takht par soi hui hai, uska Noor chamak raha hai aur us par ache ache kapre hain, main usse bhi khof zadah hogaya, main ne bahar nikalne ka iradah kia tou mujhe kaha gaya: Tum isse nahin puchoge keh ise is ai’zaz se kyun nawaza gaya? Main ne kaha: ise kyun nawaza gaya? Mujhe bataya gaya: kyun keh woh ita’at guzar naujawan tha, is ne Allah عزوجل ki ita’at wa ibadat mein nashonuma paai aur parwan charha.

Abdul Malik ne us waqt kaha: is mein gunahgaron kay lie ibrat aur ita’at guzaron kay lie basharat hai, pas un buraion mein mubtala shakhs par wajib hai keh woh taubah aur ita’at ki taraf jaldi kare.

Allah ham ko aur apko ita’at guzaron mein se banae aur hamen af’aale fasiqeen se bachae, (Ameen) kyun keh woh sakhi daata fayyaz hai.

19. Drinking Alcohol

Allah, Most High says,

{O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, sacrificing to stones and (divination by) arrows, is an abomination, of Satan’s handiwork: Eschew such (abomination) that ye may prosper. Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from Prayer: will ye not then abstain?}

(Al-Ma’idah: 90-91)

Thus, Allah the Exalted forbids wine and warns us of approaching it.

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

“Avoid wine, it is the mother of abomination. “¹

Therefore, if anyone does not avoid it, he then disobeys Allah and His Messenger and thus entails punishment.

Allah the Almighty says,

{But those who disobey Allah and His Messenger and transgress His limits will be admitted to a fire, to abide therein: and they shall have a humiliating punishment.}

(An-Nisa’i: 14)

Ibn ‘Abbas related that, “When the wine was forbidden, the companions (of the Prophet) met each other and said, The wine was forbidden and became equal to polytheism (Shirk).”²

‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr held that, “Wine is the worst of the major sins.”³

Undoubtedly, wine is the core of abominations. Moreover, he who drinks it was cursed in various hadiths.

“Every intoxicant is wine and every wine is unlawful. Whoever it in the world and dies addictive to it without repentance, he will not drink it in the Hereafter.”⁴

“Whoever drinks wine in this world it shall be forbidden for them in the next.”⁵

“A drunkard is like a worshiper of an idol.”⁶

“He who shows disrespect to his parents and the drunkard will not enter Paradise.”¹

“Three people, Allah will deprive them of Paradise; the drunkard, the one who shows disrespect to his parents and the pimp who admits what his family do of abomination”²

Further, Allah does not accept the good deeds of a drunkard. Jabir Ibn ‘ Abdullah relates that the Prophet (pbuh) said,

“There are Three people from whom Allah does not accept their Prayer nor do their good deeds rise up to heaven: the fleeing slave until he returns to his masters and surrends to them, the woman who annoys her husband until he is pleased with her, and the drunkard until he becomes conscious”³

The Arabic word Khamr is what befogs the mind in whatever form: soft, solid, edible or beverage.

Abu Sa’id Al-Khudari related that the Prophet (pbuh) said,

“Allah does not accept the Prayers from him who drinks wine so long as there is still something of it in his body” ⁴

“Whoever drinks wine Allah never accepts what he does: Whoever is intoxicated by drinking it will not have his Prayers accepted for forty morning (days). If he repents but drinks again, Allah will make him drink from the molten brass of the Hell-fire.”⁵

“Whoever drinks wine without being intoxicated, Allah rejects him for forty nights. If he dies during this period, he dies as an idol worshiper.”⁶

‘Abdullah Ibn Awfa said, “Whoever dies a drunkard will die as the worshiper of AI-Lat and AI-‘Uzza (two idols). It is said, Do you think that the drunkard is the one who drinks it constantly? He answered, “But he drinks it whenever he finds it even after years.”⁷

Whoever drinks wine is not considered a believer at the time of drinking. Abu Hurayrah related that the Prophet (pbuh) said, “A thief is not a believer at the time of committing a theft. A fornicator is not a believer at the time of committing fornication, and a drunkard also is not a believer at the time of drinking as long as they have the opportunity to repent” ⁸

“Whoever fornicates or drinks wine, Allah takes his faith from him as a man takes a shirt off over his head.”

The scent of Paradise is smelt five hundred years away but is not sensed by whomever shows disrespect to his parents, he who reminds of his charity to them, a drunkard or an idol worshiper.”¹

Imam Ahmad reported on the authority of Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari that the Prophet said,

“A drunkard, a believer in sorcery or he who severs his family ties will not enter Paradise. Whoever dies while drinking wine, Allah will make him drink from the river of Ghuta which is the water flowing from the genitals of the wenches. The odor of their genitals hurt all the people of the Hell-Fire.”²

“Allah sent me as a mercy and guidance to the worlds. I was sent to do away with musical instruments, flutes, and the affairs of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance and idols. My Lord the Almighty swore by His Majesty that if one of my servants drinks a dosage of wine, I would make him drink the like of it in the Hell-Fire. But whoever gave up it out of fear from Me, I would give him drink from the yards of the shrine with the best fellow of drinking.”³

As for those who are cursed because of drinking wine, Abu Dawud reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said,”Allah has cursed wine, and whoever drinks it, pours it, buys it, presses it for another, presses it for himself, carries it or accept its delivery.”⁴

Ahmad reported on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (pbuh) said,

“Gabriel came to me and said, “0 Muhammad, Allah has cursed wine, and whoever presses it for another, presses it for himself, drinks it, carries it, accepts its delivery, sells it buys it, pours it for another or pours it for himself.⁵”

It is unlawful to visit a drunkard when he is ill so is greeting him.

`Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn AI-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Do not visit the drunkard when being ill.”⁶

AI-Bukhari and Ibn ‘Umar said, “Do not greet the drunkard.”

The Prophet said,

“Do not sit with the drunkard, visit their sick or attend their funerals. On the Day of Judgement the drunkard will be brought with a black face, and his tongue dangling on his chest, flowing with saliva.Whoever sees him knowing that he is a drunkard will disgust him.”⁷

A scholar said, they are forbidden to be visited and be greeted because the drunkards are cursed and rebellious. Allah and His Messenger cursed them as mentioned before. Allah cursed wine and he who drinks it. If they buy and press it they will be cursed twice and if they pour it for another they will be cursed three times. Therefore, it is for bidden to visit or greet them unless they repent to Allah. Whoever repents to Allah. He will accept his repentance.

Wine is forbidden as a medicine. Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) related, “Once, one of my daughters was ill, so I made wine in a container for her. Then, the Prophet entered while it was boiling. He asked, “What is this, Umm Salamah?” She replied, “It is just a medicine for my daughter.” The Prophet, then, said,

“Allah has not made a cure for you in what He has prohibited to you.”¹

Miscellaneous hadiths narrated about wine:

Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet (pbuh) said,

“A cask of wine was brought to the Prophet (pbuh) who said, Throw it against the wall, it is the drink of those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day.”² [Ibn Majah, Abu Ya’la and A1-Bazzar]

“Whoever memorizes a verse (Ayah) from Allah’s Book and pours wine on it every letter of this Ayah will drag him from his forehead, make him stand before Allah Most Blessed and Exalted. Then, it argues with him, and whoever is argued with by the Qur’an will be treated as an opponent. Woe to whomever is argued by the Qur’an on the Day of Judgement.”

“If a group of people gather together to have an intoxicant in this world, Allah will gather them together in the Hell-Fire. They will turn to and blame one another by saying, 0 such and such may Allah not bless you. You brought me here.”

“Whoever drinks wine in this world, Allah will make him drink from the poison of Asawid. One sip of this poison will make the flesh of his face fall in the goblet before he drinks it. Having drunk it, his flesh and skin will fall off, and it will bring pain to the people of the Hell-Fire. Behold, whoever drinks it, presses it for another, presses it for himself; carries it, accepts its delivery or eats its price are alike in entailing its sin. Allah does not accept their Prayer, Fasting or Pilgrimage until they repent. But if they die before doing repentance, Allah will make them drink pus of the Hell-Fire for every dosage they drank in this world.

Beware, every intoxicant is wine, and every win is unlawful.”

The Prophet’s statement “Every intoxicant is wine” included also hashish (marijuana) as will be shown later.

It is narrated that “When the drunkards are brought to the bridge on the Fire (Sirat) they will be kidnapped by the angels of punishment to the river of Khabal. There they will drink for every glass of wine they have drunk a sip from the river of Khabal. Such a sip is so hot that if poured on to heaven, it will be burnt.”

Some of the sayings of the early Muslims about wine:                       

                             

 “Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Whenever a drunkard dies let him be buried crucified. Then disinter his grave to find out whether he is directed to Qiblah or not. If not, let him be crucified.”

It is narrated that once Al-FudailIbn Eyad visited one of his disciples when dying. He started to instruct the deceased the testification of Faith, ‘there is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” but the disciple could not repeat after him. When Al-Fudail repeated it again the disciple said, “I could never pronounce it. I am free of it.’ Then, Al-Fudail left weeping. Afterwards, he saw in a dream the disciple while being dragged to Fire. He asked him, “0 poor disciple, why did you turn to ignorance?”

He replied, “0 master, when I was ill, I went to a physician who advised me to drink a glass of wine every year. It not, you would remain sick. Therefore, I used to drink it annually for treatment.” If that is the abode of those who drink it for treatment. How about the others?

When a penitent was asked, Why he repented he answered, ‘I was used to entering graves. Once, I saw a dead person not directed to Qiblah. I, then, asked his kinsmen about him and they said, “He used to drink wine in the world and died without doing repentance.

One of the righteous men said, “Having buried one of my kids, I saw him in a dream with a white hairy head. I asked, 0 my kid, I had buried you as a child, what happened to you?” A drunkard was buried beside me, father. Then Hell-Fire received him by just a puff. It was so violent that all children grew white hairy.

Hence, we should repent to Allah the Almighty before dying disobedient and then cast into the Fire. We seek Allah’s refuge from it.

Hashish which is made from marijuana is like wine. It is unlawful and whoever smokes it should suffer the same penalty of a drunkard. Actually it is worst than wine. As it affects one’s mind and perception to the extent that he may turn into effeminate or a pimp etc. Wine is also most abominated as it often leads to disagreement and fighting and they in turn take the Muslim away of Prayer and remembrance of Allah.Some earliest scholars held that who eats or smokes hashish should be disciplined but such disciplinary action may not reach the amount of the least prescribed legal penalty. This is because they considered it as something that befogs mind but not desired like narcotics Nevertheless, hashish is something which is desired and it is hard for the addict to renounce it. Therefore, he who eats or smoke it should be penalized like the one who drinks wine.

Because hashish is solid the scholars are not unanimous as to whether it is filthy or not. There are three points of views as shown in the Hanbali school of jurisprudence and others: It is as filthy as wine and this is the correct point of view.

It is not filthy due to its solidity. Solid hashish is pure but liquid hashish is filthy.

Once, Abu Musa asked, “0 Messenger of Allah what is the ruling of Bit’ and Mizr (two intoxicants beverages made in Yemen). The former is made of honey and the lather is made of barely. He added, the Prophet is so eloquent. The Prophet answered,“Every intoxicant that causes the negligence of Prayer is forbidden.”¹

“Of that which intoxicates in a large amount, a small amount is unlawful.”

[At- Tirmidhi, An-Nasa’i, Ibn Majah, Abu Dawud and Ahmad.]

In the hadith above, there is no reference to the dichotomy of intoxicants into solid or liquid. Whatever the kind or form of an intoxicant, it is unlawful. Hashish is not mentioned by the early Muslims because it was used only after the coming of Tatars to the Islamic world.

Abdul-Malik Ibn Marawan recounted a story about a young man who came to him weeping because of a sin he committed. The young man asked: Is repentance available to me? Abdul-Malik said, “What did you commit of sins? I committed a grievous sin, the man declared. Abu Malik said, “You would better repent to Allah Who accepts the repentance of His servants and forgives all sins.” Then, the young man said, “O leader of the believers, I was used to robbing graves. There I have seen many wondrous scenes. He asked him: “What did you see?” He said, “One night I robbed a grave where I noticed the corpse not directed to Qiblah. I was scared and started to leave but I heard someone saying, “Would not you ask why he was turned away from Qiblah? Why, I asked. He said, “Because he was not serious in Prayer.”

When I stole from another grave I noticed that the corpse was turned into a pig and his neck tied by chains. I was scared and attempted to leave, but I heard someone saying, “would not you ask about his deeds, and why he was tortured?” I asked why?” He said, “He drank wine in the world and died without doing repentance.

In the third grave I saw that the corpse was spinned into the earth by wedges of fire and that the tongue was pierced to the back of his head. I became scared and tried to go back but someone called me by saying,’ “Would you like to know why he was tortured?” I asked. “Why”? He said, “He did not free himself of traces of urine and was a talebearer.”

In the fourth grave, I saw that the corpse blazing in fire. I was scared and attempted to leave but I was called would you like to know why he was tormented. I asked, “Why?” He replied he neglected prayers.

Eventually, I stole from a fifth grave which was so wide as far as one’s sight and shiny. The corpse was lying on a bed illuminated and well dressed. I honored him and tried to leave but someone called me saying, “would you like to know why he was honored?” “Why? I asked .” He said, “He was a devout young man who was brought obeying and worshipping Allah.” Then Abdul-Malik commented, “This is a lesson to the sinful men and a good tiding to the devout people. May Allah count you and us among the devout and obedient people and let us be protected from the wrongdoing. He is the Most Generous, the Most Bounteous.
